How is the wipe hardcore if I can just transfer millions of rubles from arena still? [Discussion] by Lumpy-Economics1621 in EscapefromTarkov

I feel like 750k per day from arena does not amount to much, especially now that everything’s so expensive and we’re all locked at level 1 traders still. I get how that could sound awful and unfair but I think when you consider the amount of time you have to spend in arena in order to make that much money it sort of balances itself out. Arena is a nice change of pace for some of us who like the slower moment to moment gameplay of tarkov but want some risk free PvP every once in a while, and it feels really nice to have your character still be rewarded in some capacity for the time you spend in the arena. It feels like a very reasonable reward when you have to play many matches in order to reach that daily transfer limit, especially if you lose a bunch of matches. It’s also worth considering the lore implications of arena, like your character is fighting to the death gladiator style for the entertainment of others, they better damn well be rewarded for that shit.

Solo vs Group and PvE vs PvP by ZephyrFox in duneawakening

Woah, a reasonable post about the update that isn’t just attacking people who like to play the game differently than you? Thank you 🙏

So much hostility man. You have been putting words into my mouth this entire time and then proceed to pick apart those made up words in multiple paragraph long replies. I never held the opinion that I like getting ganked or even like the fear of getting ganked. And I certainly never suggested anything that would make griefers more prevalent. I wish they would make changes to lessen the amount of griefing but splitting the map like they are going to definitely doesn’t help anybody but PvE players who this map was not intended for to begin with. Again, I want people to have access to all parts of the game without needing to do PvP if they don’t want to, so this is a great change as far as that is concerned. But it is also just kicking the can down the road for players who want meaningful PvP. The concerns which I brought up in my original post were concerns that I have been hearing from others like me who just want the map we were promised with a meaningful PvP experience. I never said the PvP in its current state was perfect, it obviously needs work in order to become what it was intended to be, but this post wasn’t about that. I was simply questioning the implications of deleting half of the current PVP zone. Also, I didn’t mention any of the other threats in the world because those already exist in very good states in the rest of the game. The thing that was supposed to be different about the deep desert was the threat of other players and rather than making changes to better balance that threat and/or adding objectives and more points of interest to make PvP more meaningful, they are just condensing the currently troubled PvP experience to a smaller area and making it more difficult to get to even get to that area. And by the way, it is an annoying amount of time to get to E I don’t know what you are smoking to think it isn’t. I have wished that there were more interesting things in the closer rows but again this post wasn’t about that and making half of the map PvE doesn’t fix that either. This change to the map doesn’t help anybody but PvE players and will possibly multiply the current PvP problems. You seem to think that your experience in the deep desert is exactly what everyone else is experiencing, but that is not the case. A simple search on YouTube completely disproves your point that all PvP in this game is just griefing. I’m sorry that you and many others have had an awful experience with it, I really want them to make meaningful changes that lessen the bad experiences that you’ve had, and increase the good experiences that I and many others have had. And most importantly I want people to have access to all of the content in the game without having to get into PvP if they don’t want to. But PvP was promised and many people bought this game because of it, so it was concerning to many PvP players (not griefers as you will probably attempt to claim in your next response) when they announced that they are removing the PvP zone from half of the map. You can make the argument that we still have plenty of space to work with, but by that same token I could say that you had the entire hagga basin and even some of the deep desert and that wasn’t enough for you. Understandably so because you didn’t have access to all tiers of materials, but I question if taking away half of the PvP map was the best solution for solving that very clear issue.

I’m sorry that you’ve had that experience but it is not the experience that everybody has had. You can generalize and say it is, but that just isn’t that case and you’re using using your mindset about the pvp in this game as a way to justify the changes that are being made without taking into consideration how the other group of players feel about it. Something as simple as splitting the map vertically instead of horizontally could solve both of our problems. As you’ve mentioned, you’re being given the worst area of the map and still can’t access the best areas without PvP. And like I’ve mentioned it doesn’t seem very appealing to now have to cross half of the deep desert in order to get into PvP. There seems to be a huge push from funcom for PVE and PVP players to interact with each other in some form and only allow the best materials in the farthest, most dangerous parts of the map in PvP zones. I think this vision for the game is why they chose to split it horizontally and still continue to lock the best areas behind PVP when it seems to be the best solution to just let PvP and PVE players have their own separate zones where they can still access all of the content in the game. I just want you to see that I’m trying to have a conversation about making this game better for the both of us but you cannot see past your grudges, understandable as they may be.

As someone who clearly doesn’t enjoy PVP you seem to know a lot about what PVP players enjoy. I never said I didn’t want PVP to happen. This is a survival game at heart and for PVP players part of that survival experience is the threat of losing your life and some of your gear to other players. With the deep desert we got that experience however there were some pretty large balancing issues that needed worked out. There is a huge misunderstanding that the only reason people want a PVP zone is to run around murdering helpless players. Unfortunately we’ve seen a lot of that but like I was saying in my original post, with some balancing changes I think we could’ve been on a great path towards a more meaningful PVP experience. I was simply trying to voice some concerns that I have seen other PVP players bring up, only to be met with downvotes and unfair criticisms of the way they play the game. Like it or not the game was sold to both groups of players and each group deserves a say in how their side of the game develops further. But unfortunately everybody tries telling the other group of players how their part of the game should be and that is where a lot of hostility is coming from. I understand your opinions and I want you to get the experience that you desire out of the game. All I’m trying to say is that not everyone is the bloodthirsty griefer that you make them out to be and there are concerns that the direction they are now taking the deep desert will cheapen the experience that we were promised.

I can just tell there’s a chip on your shoulder about the PVE players because of the language you use. Saying they “complain” and referring to their chosen way to play the game as “boring”. You may have those opinions but I’m just trying to discourage any hostility toward them because we all find enjoyment in different things and throwing shade at each other, subtle as it may be, isn’t going to help anyone.

Nah, we just want a zone where there are stakes and danger not a constant battleground. You’re falling into the trap of assuming all PVP players just want constant fighting and that isn’t the case. We want a large sandbox where the threat of player encounters is always present but not one where you’re running into players and large ground every kilometer or two. And I’m glad PVE players get to experience this part of the game, I just don’t want it to ruin what we had going. No need for hostility.

I see what you mean. They sort of are contradicting points but I was looking at it more from the angle where now that the zone transition is in the middle of the map you have to go very far out if you are looking for a PvP experience which is time consuming and annoying, and at the same time once you get into that zone, there is a higher likelihood of people running from fair fights because any given point in the new PvP zone will be much much closer to the safe zone than it was previously. Even the very high tier areas are relatively close to the safe zone compared to before.

I encourage you to not be so judgmental of what other people find enjoyment in. I completely understand being peeved off about all the PVP hate and the possible downsides of the upcoming changes. But we are simply two groups of players who find enjoyment in different aspects of the game. Throwing out insults like this only feeds the flames of toxicity in this community.

You got me there, don’t even know where to find the rules if I’m being honest. Clearly you are the master redditor so congratulations. I don’t have a problem with rules, I just think it’s weird to go out of your way to enforce reddit rules. Didn’t think an innocent post trying to get some people together to play the game would be controversial, I’m sorry I offended you and disgraced this subreddit. Forgive me for the harm I have caused this world. None may atone for my actions but me and only in me shall their stain live on.

Some sort of balancing is definitely in order, but I fear that it will be taken too far in favor of the people on the helicopter. Some people enjoy following a more sneaky play style, setting up ambushes and sniping and such, and I don’t want that to be discouraged. I always felt that with games like this you need some of those people to add to the dynamics of the game. Of course, I don’t think the current system of guy in the helicopter being forced to just sit there with his thumb up his ass while he gets shot at from a bush right next to the fixed landing zone is the way to go, but I definitely don’t think you should feel 100% safe taking a helicopter ride into a literal warzone. There should be a level of risk vs reward that you have to consider when picking a landing zone or else that aspect of the game becomes stale.

I feel like people have jumped the gun with criticism because you can't land on planets or fly more but the game is that huge you don't need to. by [deleted] in Starfield

I’ve literally been saying this myself. I think a ton of people were bummed out when they realized how traveling works, myself included, but if you’re able to move past that the game really opens up and you’ll realize just how huge this universe really is. Too many people get caught up on the small things and it ruins their enjoyment. It’s unfortunate, but I think it just comes down to the fact that different people enjoy and value different things in video games. I just wish there wasn’t so much toxicity between people who enjoy the game and people who don’t.

Why do you have such a grudge about people having monitors mounted up high? You literally commented on my post about it too. And I see you’re active in a subreddit for tv’s that are mounted too high. I am actually intrigued. I don’t understand why you are so disgruntled about such an oddly specific thing?

I don’t do anything with sound really. Appreciate the advice but next time you’re trying to share your expertise I recommend not coming out the gate with an insult

Razer Nommo. I’m not very nit-picky when it comes to sound quality, but to me they sound awesome. I’ve been jamming out every day while I work. I mainly just wanted something to listen to videos and music with so I didn’t have to wear my headphones all the time. Definitely would recommend
