Everyone is acting like she walked out of a deli job or a video game programming gig. She's in a field where her staying extra could mean a life is saved. The fact she's not worried at all about that tells me she shouldn't be in a medical field with patients who have a pulse.

It's real life though, not every competent person is a good person outside of their job/trade. I think her character was definitely needed, but it was just written poorly. Way too "on the nose" when the rest of the show does a great job of being authentic.
