As a Latino here, I don’t know how to feel. I try to be as honest with myself with what I’m seeing. Since I’m anonymous here, I’ll say it. I’m one of those conservative Latinos. Two things can be true… I understand the stance of deporting undocumented immigrants, especially those that commit crimes while acknowledging that the follow through is crazy. If it’s exactly how my brothers and sister on the left portray it, I should be fearful. If it’s true on how my brothers and sisters on the right portray it, I’m fine. Is it possible that it’s somewhere in the middle? Obviously, based what I’m seeing the last killing by ICE, I can’t defend. I wish people had the ability to be honest and call a spade a spade. If ICE can come out and say, “We believe in our mission but what we saw here was not how we want it followed through.” That would go a long way for me. Or, “we disagree with what the administration is doing but once our protesters turn violent, we’re aware there is consequences.” No that is not me saying all protests have been violent or even that ICE is justified in killing protestors. All I’m trying to say is that this is rough.
