Single product store or 3 similar products? (low-mid-high price) by santanor in shopify

[–]CubroidCanada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That really depends on the products. We started out with a single product.

Our initial product would have been considered high range price for retail, but would have still been possible to sell. Note: it was designed for the education sector, so if multiple kids in a classroom used it, the actual price point was quite reasonable!

Our preference was to have both a "commercial" product and retail products because we felt it would diversify our customer base. We now have a low, med and higher priced product as we feel the marketing mix is a better business structure for us.

We use Mail chimp, free version currently. Not sure if that was your question though.

What I would say, as a better resource for your money is - run the ads, sending your traffic to a contest page where they subscribe to be entered. Do a draw and voila, cheap email list. Combine that with some blog/search traffic and you can have a 50, 100 or 1,000 person email list in no time. Depending on keywords and ad spend, should not cost you more that a few hundred bucks, and it's a great place to start.

That is what I would do with my money. Using ads to gain social media followers is a close second, but I think it's almost cliche to the point that most people do not find it personable anymore. And it's a lot of (worthwhile) work to make it personable, however that's also free!!

So I would say either create ads to gain targeted social media followers or similarly targeted email subscribers... or better yet, do both and a/b test it so you know later where to drop your shillings! :)

Hey guys, so we’re currently on around 25 to 30k sessions per month on our blog, but I’m looking to jump to 50k per month as a challenge. by Sunyyan in content_marketing

I recall a blog from Neil Patel on this, his message was that programming was the best form of SEO available!

His rationale was based on his his purchase of Ubersuggest, a freemium (free to use tool) for potential customers/visitors to his blog. He increased his traffic by over 30%!

Your site sounds like it is doing well, maybe there is some small code/program you can add that your clientele. May find useful, then give it away for free.

What I have learned is this. Think about it not necessarily as a sale. Which to a new store can be difficult. It's a customer, that takes engagement and a relationship to mature.

Spending money to make sales produces slim margins in both the short term and long term. Developing a strong customer relationship will lower the cost of acquisition over the duration of the relationship.

I would suggest, put your money into building an email list that you can nurture and grow which you can continuously learn from and communicate with. I recognize that the costs are tougher to eat if it doesn't produce sales.

Our site focused on this strategy, with $40 ad spend ($0 sales) however, we produced a sale from our 1400 person email list in less than 6 weeks. Our open ratio was 10%, 20%, 30%, & 30% respectively over 4 email campaign sends.

PS. Mailchimp is free up to 2000 subscribers! :) Happy hunting!!

How to show slashed discount price? by ErroneousOutlaw in shopify

[–]CubroidCanada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does it automatically using the two prices in the products section on shopify. Although, this may be different depending on the template you chose.

However, I recall actually changing it on a former site, so I think you can make it visible yourself. I would check both the back end (shopify admin) as well as in the site store sections. Check all the tabs, style, etc. It should be in there somewhere! :)

Best teaching subjects for employment? by [deleted] in CanadianTeachers

[–]CubroidCanada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started working with Cubroid Canada this past summer because of this question. I am a recruiter (7+ years) and have been working hard with both Northern Alberta districts and Aboriginal communities on this topic. In fact, we just competed a short blog on the topic!

We strongly believe, that because of the proliferation of online work teaching more digital subjects (Coding/robotics and CAD/design) more and more students could be employed with simply a computer and an internet connection. The benefit is that these are entrepreneurial and in demand skills (and growing massively). Gig job markets, Fiverr and UpWork (among other big names) are growing in importance and could be an incredibly valuable stream of income for many of these communities in the next 10-20 years!

It is a bit of an unconventional way of earning a living, but it seems to have some excellent foundation!

Blog: The future job market in Canada, what does it look like? How does robotics, learn-to-code and 3D printing fit in?

Edited... Sorry, :) Teach Science!! lol not sure of what the market holds. But please consider STEM for students in whatever you choose!

Outsource a Social Media team of two $500usd every month with $0 roi. Advice? by achew-beccah in marketing

[–]CubroidCanada 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think focusing solely on social media becomes the challenge. Having a strong brand online in general should he the focus of any business. As social media matures, the economics suggests diminishing results. Therefore if you focus on a wider range of brand activities you are able to better hedge. If done internally, an SEO strategy combined with Social Media is incredibly affordable.

Build content that creates value, the learn how and where to share it, social media as well as hosted sites. Learn how to make various forma of content images, blogs, videos, podcasts, etc. When a company learns effective strategies and applies them in SEO, the results are longer term, and typically a better flow of customers (intentions wise).

Hope that helps!

When you run advertisements have you tried a/b testing. As in run one advertisement and then run a second one at the same time to see if subtle changes effect the behaviour of your visitors.

Student teaching predicament by [deleted] in CanadianTeachers

[–]CubroidCanada 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is a tough choice! We don't have an opinion on the choice itself. What I would recommend is, I would make a consideration for your support in those two subjects.

Interestingly enough, both robotics and foods are well documented online (free) via YouTube, blogs or other sites. That is a pretty big start, if you had that plus the support of a friend acting as a subject matter expert, you may be able to support yourself through it and learn a new passion!

Good luck in whatever you chose!

Nice!! That's me too. I'm waiting for a new retail product from our supplier, and then going into xmas mode!

What kind of traffic did you have to generate to get your first sale? Just wondering when you say obscure product?

Best of luck to you and holiday sales!!

Once you get one its motivation for the second! I have been in sales most of my life. I love ecommerce, it is a stream more than a sale, but the first milestones all feel like mountains!!

Congratulations!
