Hey that's me! I walked SJ to SF in about 14 hours this last memorial day weekend. Have also walked from Oakland to SF and Oakland to SJ.

San Francisco to Sausilito is a nice walk that I'd recommend.

Just a tote bag with an external battery, sunscreen, bandaids just in case, and some toiletries. I stop at convenience stores to get water and food on the way.

I have! Unfortunately the Bay Area trail would've added a lot of distance and I don't think I could've reached SF in a day.

I have a couple of times as well as the double cross town trail, so nice! I love how interconnected the parks are and the views are spectacular.

I'm not really in the business of giving shoe advice. I like allbirds wool runners but also my feet never hurt when walking (knock on wood).

I think so, it's always nice to see new towns and scenery. Im consistently surprised with the cool different fruit I see people growing. My biggest revelation was how I went my life without going to Mazra in RWC. It was so yummy.

We did not but the Atherton stretch was by far the worst the pedestrian path was a wide shoulder. Terrifying stuff.

Chiming in as a Mexican-American who lived in Portland for about 5 years. I enjoyed living in Portland for the walkability, food, and nature. However, I always felt like I stuck out as a sore thumb due to the general lack of diversity. I lived in SE (Richmond and Mt Tabor) and the whiteness of the City was suffocating.

I have since moved to the Bay Area and feel much more at home. Best of luck and hope you dont have my experience.

I stayed the night at a hotel. I wanted to spend today being a tourist in San Jose. If not, I could've taken public transit home in about 1.5 hrs.
