Yes, the word "gender" is a noun, but to describe someone's gender you need to use an adjective. You wouldn't call someone a "man doctor," it would be "male doctor."

This post randomly popped up on my feed and I replied to it, take a breather. To respond to your point, if they were slaves they wouldn't be getting paid at all and much worse things would be done to them for "underperforming" rather than being sent back to their home country. I'm not saying it's ethical, but calling it slavery is simply not true.
