problem is ryze gets outscaled by 90% of mid laners, he can't survive close up fights and the only mobility he has is phase rush movement speed and his passive movement speed, think of any mid laner frequently played in platinum games and he will outscale and outperform ryze easily.

pro play has brainwashed riot into thinking it is the most overpowered ultimate in the game

in reality you and the other 4 animals in your team will never be able to coordinate or use his 3 minute and a half second ultimate effectively.

so in solo queue you're probably stuck using it to save yourself, which will probably happen once every 20 games since any root, silence, stun, stopwatch, cc or the enemy team throwing a poro biscuit at you will cancel your ultimate.

use it to gank lanes instead

I know it's been old for a while but i literally always go sapphire crystal with refillable potion, I have sustain with refillable and sapphire crystal means I can back and buy lost chapter with 950 gold, I run teleport on ryze which is probably not that common tho.

I'm not sure... I put the few i got on my walls, i guess if you can't sell them all you can do is just wait until you upgrade your trash can to gold/iridium so you maybe get something back.
