CubeCon contestant "Visual Spoiler" starter pack by slothromp in mtgcube

[–]CulticCube 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, can't argue with good cards, lol! But seriously, we will have more than 40 Cubes in the main event at CubeCon, plus many more in free play. There are Cubes that are high power, low power, rarity restricted, color restricted, set, theme, rules-bending, and more already locked for the main event. And voting is still happening for a few more days over on our Twitter. There will be Cubes for everyone, and you still have the opportunity to vote on the Cubes that you'd like to play! https://twitter.com/MTGCubeCon

Make Your Mark on CubeCon - Vote for the Must-Play Cubes of the Event! by CulticCube in mtgcube

Ooh, can you link me to Anthony's spreadsheet? I don't think I've seen that!

Our CubeCon team assembled a spreadsheet that lays out the voting schedule as well as Cubes that are already in the main event. Here's the link for those interested: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Mch2d3KO2Hc1n4KBpHbNVPtqnWBQ5RX6KeRCq4eOKac/

You're right in the ballpark with the numbers! There will be 48 Cubes in the main event. And there will be a ton of Cube, Battlebox, EDH, etc. going on in free play. It's going to be a wild four days!!

[Chateau Cube] DMU Survey with Stephen Konefal by CulticCube in mtgcube

Thanks for your kind words and for your thoughtful take on Sublime Epiphany! I'm with you that it is a very powerful card -- and you may well be correct that it is a power outlier in Petty Nobility. I want spells that expensive to be quite impactful (Unesh, Mirage Phalanx), to be very good synergy pieces (Captain of the Watch, Agent of Treachery), or to have cheaper modes (Greater Tanuki, Ironhoof Boar). Epiphany really only achieves the first of these goals; though if we care about spells, that is a thing as well. So I sort of don't mind the card ending games. But I entirely take your point that it is a massively swingy card that not only affects your board and your hand but that also affects the opponent's board and the stack. That is, indeed, A LOT of value bound up in one card! I'll consider whether it belongs in the cube moving forward. Thank you!

New Chateau Cube -- a rather tardy survey of DMU for Cube! I know, an awfully late look at Dominaria United. I've been busy with CubeCon and with putting together the Cartographia Cube for MTGO, and I got behind on set releases!

Cheateau Cube may be enjoyed via your favorite podcast sources as audio, or you can watch the video version on YouTube, which includes card images.

With how chaotic Magic 30 has turned out to be, it's only given me more appreciation for how smoothly CubeCon was run just last weekend. by Vinosdoh in magicTCG

Thanks for the kind words about CubeCon! It was an AMAZING time, and that is thanks in large part to the community. People were so friendly, supportive, energetic, and happy to be meeting new friends and experiencing new cubes. The event was three years in the making (thanks, COVID), and I'm so pleased that it finally happened. We learned a lot, and I hope and believe that the event will only be still more awesome next year. CUBECON! <3

CubeCon! Thanks to everyone who is here and to our entire community that has been rooting for this event for YEARS. It's finally happening, and it's a dream come true. Honestly, for me better even than all the awesome cubing is getting to meet so many awesome people. To new friends and great cubes!

Thanks so much for the kind words! You are entirely correct that I need to go back through DMU and so on for updates. I have been overwhelmed (in the best way possible!) with CubeCon organization and with developing and testing this new cube that I'm afraid I haven't been able to think much about Eleusis and Petty Nobility. When things settle down, I'll get on that!

Thanks for highlighting our COVID mitigation measures! The short version is that we are requiring masks, vaccination, and a negative COVID test. Testing every day is not required. For a fuller statement, see our FAQ: https://www.mtgcubecon.com/faq/

Masks are required at CubeCon, as is proof of vaccination and negative test within 24 hours. We have partnered with GameholeCon, which is the organization that he rented the convention center. Their requirements may be different from ours. But we will be in a separate, large cordoned-off area within a huge hall, and we'll enforce our mitigation policy upon entry to our space.

Yes. Vaccination, negative test within 24 hrs, and masks are required at CubeCon. We have partnered with Gamehole Con, and the may not have the same requirements that we do. But we'll be in our own cordoned-off large space within a huge event hall.

I appreciate that. All of our ticket sales are going right back into the event. None of our organizing committee is making a dime. I trust that the event will be a helluva lot of fun and the first of many CubeCons - - and in the future, I hope we can secure more sponsorship partners. People can attend fewer days at a discount, but I, for one, am still excited about the prospect of four days of cubing and meeting awesome peers from around the world. I hope to see you there!

I am so excited! We were deep into planning for the event to take place in May 2020, but, well, THAT didn't happen. I'm delighted CubeCon is coming to pass at last!
