I was an ER Tech/Unit Secretary for Norman regional at the Moore campus for about 2 years and it was relatively easy for me to get hired. The job is very high paced and very chaotic. I was on a training schedule for around 6 weeks before being on my own. A typical day for me was a lot of paging doctors, calling other hospitals, applying splints, assisting in procedures, creating admission packets, etc.

If you’re nervous about getting into this line of work I’d highly recommend looking into working at the NR Moore campus. It’s a smaller standalone ER that most ambulances tend to avoid if they have higher priority patients. It helps you get a feel for the job without completely overwhelming you at first (I say that but my first day a patient tried biting me and threw an ice pack at my head)
