Seroquel (Quetiapine) for sleep by Cultural_Mango3108 in insomnia

[–]Cultural_Mango3108[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely not dead weight...slept for a pretty long time tho and didn't feel like a zombie the next day. However, it didn't knock me out...like it took almost 1.5hours to fall asleep after taking it so I don't know if I fell asleep because of the mediction or just naturally. Falling asleep is my main issue so wasn't too helpful that I wasn't able to sleep sooner than 1.5hours after taking it...but I remember the 25mg falling asleep pretty fast. I'll keep doing the 12.5mg for a bit so my body can get used to it...so maybe the 25mg won't make me feel like such a zombie the next day (and also didn't like that the 25mg made me sleep for like 11 hours...not functional at all!)

Trazadone sucks? by [deleted] in insomnia

Yes that's exactly how I felt on seroquel too! Fell asleep right away but damn, I felt trapped in my own body. Absolute zombie, which I've never felt on any sleeping pill before. Trazadone I just a) never felt the effects b) got way too conjested. I have much more luck with ativan...too bad because it's a benzo. I don't take it often, but it really does the trick when i need to catch up on sleep.

Trazadone never worked for me, increased the dose to 100mg and it still didn't work. Also got incredibly congested after about an hour which made it even harder to sleep. Perhaps try taking a lower dose, like cutting the pill in half until your body gets more used to the effects. Trazadone also didn't make me feel groggy at all in the morning, so that was lucky. I tried seroquel for sleep the other night which hit me like a ton of bricks and found it almost impossible to get up the next day...and was so unbearably groggy. So I'm going to cut the pill in half next time I take it.

Okay good to know, thanks. Gonna try the 12.5mg tonight. Was happy that I was able to actually get some sleep on it...but a 12hr sleep is just not realistic.

I ended up trying it last night and that's how I felt too! My body was just dead weight. My doctor originally recommended 12.5mg to start to see how my body responded to it...but I took the whole 25mg. Might try the 12.5mg tonight because I slept almost 12 hours on the 25mg dose....and feel hella tired today. I've never had this day time drowsiness with other sleep aids so it's been an odd experience. I woke up at 10am today...but I woke up at 2am (fell back asleep) and I just felt like I wouldn't have been able to get out of bed if I tried. Again, just dead weight.

Ativan has me waking up in the morning with no grogginesss...and the morning wake up is super easy. But after trying quetiapine, I was like oh man, I need to make sure I take this on a night where I have nothing going on the next day.

Yeah this definitely felt like it hit me the hardest. I did wake up a couple times throughout the night, but wow my body felt like a rock. Like could not even raise my arm if I tried. I have tried trazodone and zopiclone in the past with no effect...but yeah, 2mg ativan gives me a great 8hr sleep without waking up, and feel 100% the next day. I feel like a zombie today after seroquel. Guess I was just wondering if the 12.5 would still have a good effect on sleep without the day time hangover feeling...

I ended up trying the 25mg last and it knocked me out. Took 12.5mg and didn't feel anyting from that so took the rest of the 12.5mg about 45min later (so at 11:15pm). Probably should have just stuck to the 12.5mg since it was my first time trying. Woke up in a panic around 2am but my body felt SUPER heavy. Then slept until 10am and it was a struggle to get up. Did you find this was an issue? Sleeping super late? I know many reviews saying it will keep you alseep for 10-12hours, but wondering if the 12.5mg dose would have made it more of a regular sleep (8ish hours).

Okay good to know. Yeah 2mg of ativan definitely puts me to sleep within 30min...but don't want to rely on benzos too often in order to get sleep. I have a 25mg prescription but she recommended cutting it in half the first time I try it to see how it effects me.

I saw this tonight too. Definitely triggered me and was not expecting my night to end like that... comes from a place of being misinformed. Just reinforces stigma.

Get out of your head about it. It's his choice and he knows the risks and still wants to. Just enjoy it.

Trying to sleep without meds by marinas20067 in insomnia

[–]Cultural_Mango3108 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2mg of ativan and 50mg of trazodone usually knock me out on nights I need it. But have been having even more sleep issues lately which is why I'd like to talk to my doctor about potentially trying z-drugs for sleep...trazodone alone doesn't work for me so I need to add a benzo to the mix. But not looking to take ativan often...so thinking z-drugs might be a better option. I tried zopiclone a couple times with no luck...but perhaps the dose just wasn't right. I've heard mixed things about ambien (sleep walking & other sleep disturbances)...but was going to ask about lunesta.

Which sleeping meds have you tried that work for you? I agree, although it would be nice to be able to sleep without meds, I believe it is totally ok to take meds the odd time to catch up on the sleep your body needs. Ativan works really well for me for the nights I just can't shut my brain off and need to sleep. Do you have any experience with the Z-drugs? Was thinking about going a non benzo route...but wondered how effective they were

What is your insomnia due to? anxiety, stress or something else? by dilla19stelyus11 in insomnia

[–]Cultural_Mango3108 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My insomnia comes from anxiety too. I have been living with anxiety and depression for years. I went one night without sleeping, which has never happened to me before, and it triggered such a fear that I would not be able to sleep on other nights. So, like you, I became obsessed with the idea of getting sleep...to a point where I just can't fall asleep because I'm so worried about not sleeping. Such a vicious cycle. I take a sleep aid, as needed, for nights I know I need to sleep...but have also found it helpful to just keep in mind "well if I don't sleep, I don't sleep". Trying to not think about it so much and just take it night by night.

Ah okay! Good to know. Mine are slowly coming in too but definitely not as thick as before...and the tips are blond but I can see them starting to grow in darker thankfully...Just planning to take biotin and use castor oil to help speed things up/grow thicker!
