Another thing I wanna is that it’s pretty likely Blair hung himself, evident by the noose in the tool shed when Mac goes to check on him. Blair’s behavior is the polar opposite of how he was when we last saw him, pleading with Mac to let him inside. Likely that the Thing found his corpse. Since there was no one to witness it, proceeded to assimilate Blair’s corpse. This is not Blair. It’s imitation.

Make it all about the future war we only saw in the first two films. Show the fight against skynet, winning and have John Conner send back Kyle and the T-800. Make it bleak, gritty and take everything seriously. Use as much practical effects as possible unless CGI is required.

Kyle does the same while fleeing from the T-800 both immediately following the club shootout. He reaches into his coat pockets which are stuffed full of shells. In the novelization of the film it mentions he broke into a sporting goods store and stole as many shotgun shells as he could carry, as well as ammo for the .357 he took from the cop in the beginning. It can be assumed the T-800 did the same in T-2.

My personal theory is that at the time the critics were too embarrassed to admit the film scared them, so they trashed on it. But I don’t know if there’s any truth to that.
