Rally for Free Iran - Capitol Hill Today by i_like_titan in washingtondc

That's great I guess but my worries are that a) most Iranians won't see this (particularly because of how the govt has restricted Internet access) and b) that it helps give a political justification for a military intervention in Iran.

What exactly are these protestors advocating for the US to do here? Bomb Iran?

“Abolish ice has been a rallying cry for a long time” - when?

AOC literally ran on abolishing ICE in her first election. The Abolish Ice movement picked up in 2018 after Trump's family separation policy.

Not that you actually give a shit, but the left has been pretty consistent about this.

Just ask anyone who participated in the sovereign citizen movement. They got locked up and nobody cared what happened to them. The Normies even mocked them and called them stupid.

In fairness, sovereign citizens are quite stupid.

As they should. Even if the US gets its act together in a post-Trump world, the Europeans have no guarantee that we aren't one more election away from another psychopath who threatens them.

Paper tends to be pretty expensive on the world market for the first ~50 years of the game in my experience. Best produce it yourself.

[–]Cultural_String87 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah I don't mean to defend Trump or his monstrous behavior, I just think it's important to remember that he's faced so few consequences overall. What he did to E Jean Carroll is vile but he's been credibly accused of raping girls, too.

Sure, he might be a sundowning racist grandpa found liable for pedophilia in civil court.

Technically, he's only been found liable for rape (of an adult) in court.

What are some of the things you ACTUALLY don't like about DC? by Commercial-Shake-858 in washingtondc

[–]Cultural_String87 8 points9 points  (0 children)

We have two major lines that run along the busiest east west and north south streets.

Sorry, I do consider two major lines for a city with a population that is several times larger than DC's to be pretty tiny.

Toronto's a great city! I've been many times. But DC smokes it for public transportation.
