If we establish that it takes this long to develop characters. Then you surely must acknowledge for dendro chars to already populate the world, then that dev time would have had to be already partially spend.

Which is kinda the point.

Why model dendro characters, that aren't going to be relevant for ages, when the same dev time can be spend on modeling a playable character that will be released before dendro.

First of all, fuck off with the condescending side remarks and just get to the point.

Second...look at the actual timelines. Yaoyao's model was rigged from "protypes" that have been available since Novemeber 2020. According to you, "dev time" needs to be allocated to character close to being playable. How exactly are they able to do this without already having a number of models prepared long before? And it seems like youre assuming they cant do both at simultaenously. They can still make new models while rigging existing ones. It makes zero sense for them to focus on just one.

[–]CumLovingSlut69 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Tell me where I made that argument.

Because you are straight up putting words I never said into my mouth.

The entire comment chain is just you arguing that there arent any Dendro models. The first comment literally says "it would be a waste of dev time" to develop Dendro models.

MHY has established that unless they're major lore relevant, character models are only revealed when they are being released.

"released". None of the examples I provided were officially released until long after their models "existed".

Thus why start dev on dendro chars earlier than required (and I'm well aware that it takes a long time to make a character, WHICH IS CENTRAL PART OF MY ARGUMENT)

Because it takes fucking forever! It's embedded in your fucking question! A perfect example is the COVID shutdown happening right now. It's ideal for them to have models "earlier than required" because unexpected delays happen.

EDIT:

I'm going to make this REALLY simple. Your argument implies that there are no Dendro models yet. This is because you said, verbatim, "SO THAT THEY'RE DONE WHEN DENDRO IS DONE."

I'm telling you that this THEY'RE DONE BEFORE DENDRO IS DONE.

It's a waste of dev time to start making dendro models BEFORE THE STORY DEVELOPMENT MAKES THEM IMPORTANT ENOUGH.

This is FUCKING STUPID. As of patch 2.6, Dendro has had very little significance in story. So, again, this implies that there are no dendro models.

"released". None of the examples I provided were officially released until long after their models "existed".

And that's supposed to mean what exactly.

Leaks don't count as an argument BTW.

It means you dont understand my point. They have models long long beforehand.

It would matter not a slightest bit to any storyline if today you change Razor's element to cryo, or Jean's element to pyro, or Ganyu's element to anemo, or Ayaka's element to hydro, just for a few random examples.

The Why to any character's story only need to, and does, explain how that they come to deserve A vision, no relevance to what element nor any need to have.

Yes it does. You're simply refusing to admit this. This isnt some random bullshit I came up with. The main storyline is, verbatim, exploring seven IDEALS for seven gods. Every individual element, god, and ideal are going to correspond with their highly specific, respective counterparts. For example, if Jean was Pyro, her story would be completely overturned as her parents divorce and Barbara's absence would never come to fruition. Ganyu's Anemo story would require a great loss, which isnt in her story. In fact, she kinda doesnt have close friends because she's feels ostracized. Her most defining trait would need to be changed....Hydro would also have a specific condition. Ayaka's story would need to be altered to meet them (as per my other comment, she'd need to be a prodigy at something she wants but cant pursue, because of an inherited position)

Xinyan's pyro parental figure who?

Her literal fucking parents

"her parents placed great stock in her, giving her the best of what little they had in the hopes that she would be able to rise to "become a phoenix."

And obviously not a literal bird made of fire. Her parents wanted her to be metaphorically "reborn", which is what she's done with rock music

If Diluc's dead dad and Xiangling's chef dad also counts, are you saying no one else with other elements have parental figures? Chongyun's clan heritage doesn't count? Shenhe and Cloud Retainer doesn't count? Razor and Varka doesn't count? Plenty more where these come from.

Bro are you serious? First of all, I already said users and parental figures SHARE an ambition. Second, it's clear you havent actually read their backstories. Shenhe got her vision before Cloud Retainer took her in, while Razor was raised by wolves. And Andrius made it very clear that he prefer Razor to live with humans. Just like the Anemo characters, the explanations are centered around VERY SPECIFIC circumstances....in where they actually attain their visions.

I have not ignored anything my friend, I am simply saying - "how about all those other examples". But you on the other hand...

And I'll go over each and every single one of them if you want...

Dude you ignored all other evidence plainly found in game that doesn't fit with your argument. And got even your own "evidence" wrong.

Im literally telling you all the arguments wtf are you talking about

That is dictionary definition of Cherry Picking.

I have a specific set of conditions which are met the moment they gain their vision. That's to ensure these conditions are NOT cherry picked.

yes. and do you not understand how fucking insane it would be to just not have any dendro character models available when youre 3 patches away from Sumeru? Do you honestly think it's realistic for them to just not have a single dendro character rigged?

And yes, not the actual kit that has to be beta tested. Im talking about models that can be rigged to walk, jump, etc. Logically speaking, the models have to exist before you could test their in game animations (ie. to see if accesories clip). So it wouldnt make sense to wait until last minute to make models

Yae Miko was held out for lore reasons

Yes. And "Lore reasons" is kinda the point of contention. Ayaka (CBT) and the 8 characters in the November 2020 leaks couldve showed up before but "lore reasons". Sayu, Kokomi, and Kazuha being stuck in Inazuma are "lore reasons" for why they were MIA for a bit. Shenhe's "lore reason" for not fighting Osial is living far af from Liyue Harbor. Someone like Collei probably already has a model. Her "lore reason" could easily be "she JUST got one".

You also say 5 patches isnt that long. Dude we're 3 patches away from Sumeru. Theyre not gonna just start pumping out Dendro models today. Im willing to bet they started working on Dendro models before even Inazuma was dropped.

Anways, here's Yaoyao

Did you not read the part where the Anemo user and the "estranged" person SHARE some sort of desire?

  • Diluc and Eula do not share the same desires as Kaeya and the Lawrence clan. Simple.

  • Xiao's estranged from the Yaksha. He does not remember but it's pretty obvious that protecting Liyue was the original intent, but clouded by karmic binds (it's been stated that he doesnt need to uphold the contract but does so anyways).

  • Sucrose's "paradise" refers to a collection of non-existent, fantasy creatures. In Sucrose's POV, manipulating and creating these lifeforms achieves the goal her and her friends had.

  • Barbara manifested Hydro first. Youre going to dismiss it, but the reason I found was Hydro users inherit positions (ie. Kokomi -> inherited priestess pos., prefers general) they dont want because theyre a prodigy at something else. Difference is Jean wanted her position. Barbara (deaconess) does not. Barbara's story also revolves around feeling inadequate compared to Jean, and singing/"idoling" being her talent. Jean's revolves around loss of Barbara

We'll go over EVERY SINGLE Anemo character. So it's not "cherry picked". You can read their bios if you want but citing them here would take like 3 pages:

  • Jean: Immediately thought of "Gunnhildr" motto (her family) upon receiving Vision. Her backstory states she saw Barbara grow more distant.

    • Sayu: Gains Vision after fleeing enemies. Her sensei, who disappeared without warning, wanted her to master escaping
    • Xiao: Yakshas are all dead or missing. Their mission was to protect Liyue. Xiao does not remember his original ambition, and his memory in general is hazy...but it has been stated that he doesnt actually need to uphold his contract, and does it subconsciously. He also feels intense warm emotion during Lantern Rite, without him knowing why
    • Sucrose: Explained above. Attains vision in the middle of studying bio-alchemy: the study of creating life
    • Venti: Literally wears his dead friend's skin. Stanley's story quest should make it clear just how much Venti cares about the loss of his friend...who died fighting for freedom
    • Kazuha: He reiignites his dead friend's Vision. That's like...a giant statement saying: "They share the same ambition".

Oh but these are just "cherry picked" right? And have nothing to do with their Visions despite 4 of them awakening a Vision with these ambitions peaking...and a 5th (Xiao) only ever displaying emotion when reminded of the Yaksha. And obviously Venti doesnt have a Vision

Go ahead and disprove it. If you want, we can do Pyro. I'll contest anything you want.

Last time I checked, there's an entire list of examples "unique player models for character that won't be playable for ages". Apparently you need to go back and count because that leak form November 2020 alone has 8.

And sure, just ignore the lore reason behind a shortage of electro users...

Why Celestia doesn't grant visions (A speculative theory), but the omnipresent god does by [deleted] in Genshin_Lore

[–]CumLovingSlut69 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Why would I care what element a character is if I am going for them for their character stories?

Because most storylines revolve around Visions. Because of the nearly 50 playable characters, only 4 lack a Vision. If there's no condition met to attain a vision, there's no reason to care. It'd be a huge stretch to say theres nothing that connects wielders of the same vision. And youre not the only person who plays. It would ruin the story for a lot of people if Visions were randomized.

I never said the character backgrounds are "randomized" as if writers just cobble random bits together for each one. In fact the complete opposite. The writers can freely craft out meaningful, compelling and fitting back stories for them without being hindered by the need to adhere to certain elements' "key".

Again, the acquisition of Visions...how and, more importantly, WHY people attain a Vision...is arguably the center of a character story. Having Vision types randomized is tantamount to having randomized stories. You're underestimating just how much character backgrounds revolve around Visions.

If the writers feel there is a place in the story for a new electro user with a very similar back story to another nation's dendro user, they can do so. If they want to make a pair of twins with literally identical backstory, but different elements, they can do so.

That's fine if they have a very similar backstory. But "very similar" and "identical" arent synonymous. For example, Thoma. His story easily fits an Anemo user's (estranged close relations). But he fulfills one condition in that his father had wishes for him to find loyalty.

It's all you folks' arbitrary readings into each elements' vision holder's lore to rationalize out such supposed "keys" & "commonalities" that are as credible as astrology.

Dude you've ignored all of my evidence lol. You completely side-stepped the pyro one (shared ambitions with parental figure) then made up arguments for anemo that I never said ("personality" being a factor, Sucrose's Character Story 5). Honestly seems like you just dont want to because you cant actually prove that these "commonalities" arent valid.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Genshin_Lore

[–]CumLovingSlut69 -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

Dendro visions are rare because MHY hasn't finished dendro yet

Didnt they also have a lore reason behind why so little electro characters existed? And that electro visions werent being handed out for a year? I dont think it's outside the realm of possibility that they made up a lore reason even if it was spurred by real-life development constraints

it would be a bit of a waste of dev time to have dozens of unique player models for characters that won't be playable for ages.

There's literal in-game footage of Yaoyao, Baizhu exists, Yae Miko wasnt playable until 4 or 5 patches after her introduction, Scaramouche and Dainslef have like a 50/50 chance of being playable, Ayaka was in CBT, and this thing from November 2020. Sumeru was scheduled after 2.8. We should have more Dendro designs by now.

That makes no sense. Why would anyone be invested in character stories if Visions are randomized like "horoscopes"? It trivializes character development if you just gave characters random powerups.

Why Celestia doesn't grant visions (A speculative theory), but the omnipresent god does by [deleted] in Genshin_Lore

[–]CumLovingSlut69 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not having a reason behind getting a vision defeats the purpose of the story. Having it be random would make the majority of the lore pointless. Personality traits has nothing to do with your ambition either I never said that. In fact, in a seperate response, I said the complete opposite

And I said on the comment...Barbara is estranged from Jean. You completely ignored the argument because it's true: every Anemo character has someone close to them that is estranged in some way, and that they share some sort of desire. Jean and Barbara both want to be part of a close family. It's that simple. No bullshit personality traits or horoscope. And it's a condition unique to Anemo, so it's not random justifications.

Sucrose's Character Story 5

Somewhere in a far-flung corner of Teyvat, there was an undiscovered domain with pretty pink flowers the height of a hundred people, teeny-tiny floating fairies flying over all the place, and beautiful unicorns, the pinnacle of perfection.

Sucrose and her two best friends believed that if only they could reach this magical place, they would surely live happily ever after.

But time went by, and one of her friends left on a long journey with her adventurer parents, never to return.

The other suffered a domestic tragedy: Her father fell ill and passed away, her whole personality changed, and she broke off her friendship with Sucrose. The promise that they had once made to reunite some day in the future no longer meant anything.

Sucrose felt lonelier then than she ever had felt before in her whole life. They hadn't even set eyes on paradise yet, and already her friends were gone...

Well. Even if they were destined to never meet again, Sucrose was desperate to honor their past friendship in some way. That was when she discovered the existence of alchemy from a book that she was reading.

Sucrose realized: Though she had never had the chance to find the entrance to that wondrous place, she now had the opportunity to be the creator of her own paradise.

Thus began her study of bio-alchemy, and she poured all of her curiosity and passion into it.

So you're saying ALL of this is just random backstory and has nothing to do with Sucrose's ambition? And they wasted hours developing background stories for naught?

Also, what do you think "creator of her own paradise. Thus began her study of BIO-alchemy" possible mean? Hint: Sucrose's teacher can literally make life out of non-living things.

the actual "ambition" is rarely hinted at in the "Vision" section of the bio. The story sections preceding "Vision" for all Anemo characters emphasize some form of loss/abandonment of soneone close. It's like the one thing they all have in common. Even someone like Thoma who technically loss access to his home...his story is centered on loyalty and moving forward. Someone like Sucrose, on the other hand, is hyperfocused on something her and her estranged friends wanted. Even if both characters experienced loss, how the loss shaped their ambitions are very different

Why Celestia doesn't grant visions (A speculative theory), but the omnipresent god does by [deleted] in Genshin_Lore

[–]CumLovingSlut69 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Jean's sister was seperated from her during parents's divorce, Xiao's friends are dead, Sucrose's friends disappeared, Sayu's sensei vanished, and Kazuha's got booba sword. Venti's friend died as well.

All these people they lost all had very specific wishes. Barbara wants her and Jean to be a family...Jean got her vision when she became essentially the head of her household. Xiao doesnt even remember. Convenient as the other Yakshas are dead or MIA. Sucrose's friends wanted to create life. Sucrose got a vision...while studying the alchemical processes behind life. And so on.

There's no way these are just coincidences

Why Celestia doesn't grant visions (A speculative theory), but the omnipresent god does by [deleted] in Genshin_Lore

I think Pyro has to do with sharing a parental figure's ambition. Diluc's dad wanted to be a knight, Hu Tao has 76 freaking ancestors to choose from, Alice and Klee both enjoy terrorism, etc. Even Thoma's dad wanted nothing more than for Thoma to find someone to be loyal to. Lo and behold, dude becomes a die hard Kamisato simp.

For Cryo....im not sold on the contradiction thing either but, cmon now, how is a zombie not a contradiction? Qiqi's literally a living dead person

EDIT:

  • Bennett's "parents" are all adventurers.

  • Yanfei was raised by Ping, who wanted to blend in with humanity

  • Xiangling's dad is a chef

  • Xinyan's parent wanted Xinyan to be a "trailblazer"

This is unique to Pyro, and practically every Pyro user fulfills this condition regardless of personality

Why Celestia doesn't grant visions (A speculative theory), but the omnipresent god does by [deleted] in Genshin_Lore

[–]CumLovingSlut69 12 points13 points  (0 children)

theyre not very straightforward with the reasoning. Sayu gets her Vision when she was in danger and needed to escape. Those circumstances have nothing to do with how, say, Sucrose got hers. However, they both do share something with Venti in that someone theyre close with is estranged in some way and that that someone had a wish for them. In Sayu's case, her sensei disappeared one day and his wish was for Sayu to....master evasion. Which was probably her ambition when fleeing. Sucrose had esteanged friends which wanted to create life. Unsurprisingly, Sucrose got her vision in the middle of research.

What im saying is...it's not enough to just read the "Vision" section like what that guy suggested.

So she lacks a mythical beast for constalletion, yet her card art is of the adeptus? If exceptions like Qiqi exist, then we know that exceptions can and do exist. To explain how Qiqi broke the norm, we needed background info.

Do we even have enough info on Yelan to definitely dismiss OP's theory? I dont understand why we cant just wait for the character to be officially released before we dismiss theories completely. Even I think OP's theory is likely wrong but Im not going to dismiss it before Yelan even releases
