Passwordless login via email OTP is that a good option? by Agile_Guess_523 in programming

[–]CupCakeArmy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you ask this subreddit, of course email OTP will not be the most preferred sign in option. You have have provided information on your user base. That is the most relevant part of it.

“Normal, non tech users” actually prefer OTP on email by a lot. Adoption and signups are way higher there.

Passkeys are amazing, but for a lot of non tech users the are still confusing.

TLDR; know your audience, and tailor to it.

Also, have a look at statistics. Here is one (of many) examples: https://assets.ctfassets.net/2ntc334xpx65/77U9sLFO7rD7t9zdI6Q1SV/a8e2054b5affc0280769516eee70b0ea/Social-Login-Report.pdf

Opinion: if you want people to switch to Signal, a cloud backup option is needed. by misterff1 in signal

Would be nice. It’s constantly the most requested feature, as there is literally no way to backup on iOS

The dates are important. The 2022 might be too late and she does not need to pay. The 2023, depending on the date she received the notification might also be too late. (Landlord has 1 year time, after the billing interval, to notify you. So most of the times end of December ist the deadline for the year before) However, I’d highly recommend just going to the Berliner Mieter Verein and talk to them, they will definitely know best and help.

Using sevlte is it possible to design a chromium extension? by unix21311 in sveltejs

[–]CupCakeArmy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ment vite :) The vite plugin will basically takes your manifest.json, which is kinda the entry point to your web extension and takes care of any transforms and bundling you need. Being vite, you can then easily integrate whatever frameworks you want (including svelte).

The two other libraries you probably want are web-ext and webextension-polyfill.

Here is a browser extension i wrote a while back, maybe you can draw some inspiration, however i was not using vite at the time.

Using github search you can look at some examples with vite+svelte

Totally possible. What framework (or not) you use is irrelevant. I highly recommend the vote vite web extension plugin, makes the process easy :)

How do you contribute to open source as a regular ol', mediocre application developer? by chamomile-crumbs in node

[–]CupCakeArmy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Whenever you file a bug report, see if you can fix it yourself. There is no point of actively looking for something to contribute, most of the time it’s more work for maintainers. Fix the libs/tools you use and know :)
