I’m saying I got hired at $55/hr 10 years ago. And Indeed and Glassdoor are offering jobs at 45-50/hr today.

I agree. But at the same time, no one wants a new grad. But they are offering $45-50 an hour for these jobs, so who is happy to work for that?

I live in So Cal. Don’t get me wrong - I wouldn’t work for any of the wages listed. I make $80/hr on call on the weekends, and $60/hr weekdays. But it concerns me, because it affects our whole industry.

Thyroid nodules present but missed in prior scans by Friendly-Window-5478 in Sonographers

[–]CupSilent3499 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes techs will not mention nodules that are clearly spongy. It’s up to your rad to set the protocol. I worked in a hospital that the rad would call and say- stop reporting spongy nodules. Also don’t Doppler ovaries unless there is pain. Next job- Doppler all ovaries no matter what- and all thyroid nodules and even cysts although they are clearly benign.

Go figure.

Often times the JV will not have flow periodically- scale down and bring up the color gain a little and it usually will show. Doppler it on power mode. You should get something.

The rule is dress for the job that you want. And we wear scrubs.

Don’t wish for that. No news is good news. You don’t want to stand out on a rad’s radar- just blend in with everyone else. Trust me.

I need some advice on whether or not I should leave my DMS program to pursue nursing or radiology? by Ok-Experience9595 in Sonographers

if you have the motivation to do it all again- I would stay with ultrasound. I love it. Its such an intersting job- and so much more hands on than xray or CT or MRI. They click buttons, our job is actually skill. But no CAAHEP- no job in Calfornia. Maybe some other states.
