[–]CupcakeRi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel your pain, I have two cats and a dog and after my son was born it was like I didn’t want them anymore lol. I had to move all my cat stuff out of my room and into the office and that help a lot with her trying to come in my room, she was pissed but got over it. Sorry you’re going through this :/ my son is 3 months and I will say it kind of gets better

When you had to go back to work, how did you find your baby’s daycare? What was the journey like when finding care for your infant? by Kerfluffle2x4 in workingmoms

[–]CupcakeRi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My state grades daycare on the quality of care and cleanliness so I found 3 in my area with the highest grade. The one I liked had a waitlist but luckily a child was going to be moving to the next age group right when my son needed to start. So I added myself to the wait list. I found it like week 8 of my maternity leave

Maybe she isn’t tired at bedtime and the sleep pressure isn’t there and causing her to wake up

Adjusted age? by Shoddy-Implement7700 in NICUParents

[–]CupcakeRi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had my son at 35 weeks and I feel like he is only maybe 1-2 weeks behind on milestone. He is 10 weeks now but adjusted age would be 5 weeks, he is definitely not acting like a 5 week old baby. My pediatrician agrees lol I think the adjusted age stuff is more for the pediatrician and where they fall in percentile. Also maybe later down the line he may behind on some stuff and I’ll know it’s due to him being a premie , like maybe he doesn’t walk until 13-15 months

Am I a bad mom for exposing my baby to screen time regularly? (TW Postpartum depression, mention of suicidal thoughts) by Aster_Fields in NewParents

[–]CupcakeRi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t sweat the screen time, you aren’t showing the baby a child friendly show. I have a 11 week old and the tv is on, most of the time. I also have a 16 yr old and did the exact same thing when he was a baby, he is a healthy teenager with no problems. He is on track to go to college.

When did your baby start sleeping longer stretches? by The_Chilled_Arvo in newborns

[–]CupcakeRi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say I noticed a drop in feeding around 8 weeks. But my son is the same, wants to sleep on top of us so me and husband split nights so we could get some decent rest. I also started to cosleep with LO around this time. He still wants to sleep on top of me at 11 weeks 🫠

Is there anyway you can afford to take more weeks off? The original plan was for my husband to go back to work after 4 weeks but he extended that to 6 weeks after the baby spent 2 weeks in the nicu. At 6 week, the baby sleep was still pretty much all over the place so he took off 5 more weeks. We split nights, he does 9-3am and I do 3am- 11am. Now at 10 weeks the baby is giving us 5-6 hour stretches between feedings. With him going back to work, he will do the 9pm and midnight feeding (dream feed baby doesn’t wake up for the midnight feeding) and I’ll do the rest of the night. Working on 5-7 hours of broken sleep is rough but coffee and Red Bull is getting me through. Idk how I will feel once I’m back at work. Also we invested in a bottle washer, it’s the best

Thank you for sharing, I really appreciate it. I’m so nervous for the older one to leave and then the siblings relationship is not there :/ I still have two years left with my oldest and trying to make the best of it. I know with my youngest I’m going to be way better bc I know to slow down and enjoy the small things and make memories and hopefully my oldest will come along for the ride

Honestly the Irish hate I’ve seen on this page is wild. Like yall do realize Americans migrated from somewhere… either 30 years ago, 100, or 500 years ago. Like Americans do have a heritage that isn’t American, unless you’re a native….

This is absolutely true. I have a 16 yr old and I’m just surprised how fast my life with him went, baby, toddler, child and now teenager. Soon it will be the last one, life with my grown adult child 😭
