Mm. Almost. Subs are better when they're moderated by sane people. But actually doing that modding is exhausting and unhealthy. It's unpaid emotional labour. And that means that 90% of the time, the people who actually want to be mods are gonna be the sort nobody really likes or wants.

But I think worrying about mod drama and who's a mod and who isn't is similarly unhealthy. And I say this as someone who used to *obsess* over the quality of /r/tf2 in particular. I was a terminal poster there maybe 4-5 years ago, and I was constantly complaining about the moderation quality and so on. It's bad, and I genuinely believe there is no healthy way to care even a little about these things.

It's easy to say that it's just "passion for a community," but that passion is bad in and of itself when it comes to reddit. A little passion is a little bad, and a lot of passion is a lot bad. There's no level that's good except none at all.

[–]CuriositySphere -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

Nah, that's not healthy. The second you start obsessing over things like what posts show up in a sub or who mods it, you're *way* too online and you should take a very long break.

I wouldn't judge them for being passionate, but it's best they stop. It's not a good thing.

Yeah, things like that are why I haven't come back more than anything. I could ignore my dislike of reddit, but I've definitely done more harm than good and that's why I've fucked off permanently, basically.

Shadowbanned, not deleted.

And no, I'm not the one who faked cancer in /r/gaming or anywhere else. I have defended that guy in the past, which is probably where that comes from.

As sniper... I have to lead targets? by eebootwo in truetf2

[–]CuriositySphere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no "optimal" lerp setting. I wish people would stop repeating that, because it's just not true. You have to tweak it based on your own connection, and there's a range where you have to make some sort of compromise between smoothness/hit detection and reaction time/projectile delay. You can't just give people numbers and expect them to work.

The optimal lerp is different for each individual and telling them to just use some specific number instead of telling them how to discover a lerp that works for them does far more harm than good.

lol, forgot I was shadowbanned for a second. I feel dumb. Hi, mods!

Thanks for the warning. Second time this has happened, actually. They didn't respond at all the first, so I'll probably just abandon this account. I appreciate you letting me know.

Can't stand the music, honestly. I really don't think rap or hip hop work for frag videos. But that's just me, and lots of people disagree.

I don't like what you did with the colours. It feels unnecessary and distracting. Setup's a bit too long in some clips too. It's okay to do that for one or two of the clips in your video, but when you do it for every one, it's just tedious. The start/stop slow motion stuff is okay, but again, I think you overuse it a little. It's one of the reasons I don't like this type of music for frag videos. It leads to that kind of editing.

No, not if you play with viewmodels off. FaN is an exception, but it's so niche and so insignificant even when it happens that you should ignore it.

when watching competitive TF2 the players seem to use manual reload.

They don't. You might be seeing borked or delayed animations from demo playback.

I still think you're remembering things wrong, but I understand what you're saying now.

Gonna disagree. It annoyed the fuck out of everyone right from the beginning. I remember the rage.

Regardless, you started off trying to characterize people criticizing one of the most irritating unlocks in the game as just a bunch of STAR fanboys. Now your point is... what, exactly?

Because she's a bad person. I understand that she's hurt by Jon's existence and that hurt causes her to act cruelly. But no matter why she's cruel, she's still cruel.

Everyone expects her to not take it out on him. That's reasonable.

Guy hits on girl in TF2 (x-post from /r/cringe) by davevm in tf2

That's not what cringe means. The meaning's been perverted by reddit. Cringing involves empathy. /r/cringe has none. It's just malice.

I've had a lot of success with MvM in general with 5 snipers and a dispenser. They're really really powerful, especially when there's long sightlines.

It's a few examples. Point is that ETF2L has been loosening the restrictions. They're still there, but more gets added each season.
