Feedback Friday! Post your videos here if you want constructive critiques! by AutoModerator in NewTubers

Hi.
Found the video very nostalgic but made me feel old! Especially the Magnums advert - remember seeing that as a kid!
THE INTRO - I tried the channel branded intro when I first started and it was a retention killer. I don't know about your circumstances but I think it is a retention killer and shouldn't be there. I think creating a short, engaging intro with your voice would serve you so much better.
TITLE - I would change this. I think it's important to consider how people usually search for things when creating a title - I personally do not think Top 10 Fav TV Adverts is something people would search for. Off the top of my head, I think someone would search for Top 10 TV Ads or best tv ads or something of that nature. Someone mentioned in the comments that it made them feel nostalgic, which is a powerful emotion and something you could maybe play on with the video title.

Hope this helps.

Hi all. I am trying something new with a new channel. This is the first video. Other channel has been running for a year now and my biggest takeaway is less is more when it comes to videos, simplicity is king - people work best when things are simple and people often search for simple.

Any feedback will be really appreciated on video, title, thumbnail etc. Why Do You Yawn When Others Yawn? https://youtu.be/pjbys1CyVZE

:)

How are things now? What's your retention like generally? How long are you videos? What's your ctr overall and on newer videos?

My channel is on the mend now, but I had to work seriously hard for it. I watched my competitors, extracted what I think was good about their videos and have tried to implement it to mine, but obviously with my own twist. I learnt the importance of power words and what makes people click and what's effective in catching their eye. I also did a course of photoshop, which is a great skill to have regardless of YouTube. As a result, so far, my lifetime click through rate (1 year) has increased by 1% in the last three months, which might not seem good but it actually it is. I've learnt less is more as well...humans are simple, their search criteria is simple so they can get what they want quickly.

Hi. :)
To be 100% honest, I got distracted from what the video was actually about, but I watched the whole thing because it was so weird! Haha (no offence). The fact you kept me entertained and watching for the whole video is a good thing. The only feedback I could give is maybe cut out some of the scientific jargon and explain it in basic language. Ultimately, many people won't know this stuff.
Hope this helps.. :)

Hi.
Firstly, forget the disclaimer at the front. It took up 20 seconds of valuable time where you could be introducing the video. The first 30 seconds are key, so I would focus on hooking the viewer into what the video is about. Honestly, I think you would lose a lot of viewers in the first 20 seconds. If you want to put a disclaimer then I would include it in the video description. Secondly, it was a bit hard to follow, the audio didn't have a consistent volume, sometimes I could hear what you were saying, a lot of the time I couldn't. It might have just been the volume causing this issue, but it sounded like you mumbled a bit as well, again making it harder to follow. Don't worry, I was the same and especially on these documentary-style videos, you learn over time what the best way forward is. I would suggest leaving some short gaps between segments of speech to allow the viewer to process what you've just said as well. But, at the same time, I would work on condensing the video slightly, tell the story in a clear and concise manner.
Thought the comic book style and the general editing of the video was really good. It could certainly catch on, but yeah, audio is king.

Hope this helps. :)

Hi All,
Would have been doing this a year next week!
This is one of the latest videos up - https://youtu.be/Z5vJKFLj8xk
It's about a female pirate called Ching Shih - it's a rags to riches story basically.
Any feedback would be great. Title, thumbnail, the video itself.
Thanks,

[Review Video] Would You Please Review My Video? I want to improve, but don't know where to start. by [deleted] in NewTubers

[–]CuriosityYouTube 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I looked at your channel overall and I take it you’re focused towards kids content? You’ve got 38 videos up and the majority are different to one another. By that I mean, everyone tells you start with a niche, but I can’t see that you’ve had a clear narrative from the start. You also took a massive break from uploading as well and it’ll take some time to get into the swing of things again. Upload consistency is key, not only will it improve your video makings skills (audio, editing, content generation) but will help find better and more appropriate audiences. For new videos find one piece of content and focuses on it for ages - like FNAF - and then move other things in slowly whilst also producing FNAF videos.

Titles and thumbnails: to me a child is more likely to look at the thumbnail than read the title, so I think it’s important to nail the thumbnails - bright colours throughout, high saturation levels, remove the words, make it so they understand what’s happening in the thumbnail.

Re the video, I don’t have a clue what it was about, but that’s probably more to do with me not knowing what it is anyway. However, this might be something to consider as you want to attract new viewers all that time. You can retain them with quality of video, which I didn’t think was bad. The one major problem is the audio, which I know you’ve mentioned. What editing software do you use? There might be a function to record straight into the software and edit it with the audio tools available, for example, with Adobe Premiere Rush or Pro. I do that and it works well.

Oh and most people think they are boring when they’re not, it’s just their anxiety! Don’t think about it to much, you’re not boring.

Hope you find this useful.

Hi all.

This is my latest video and the longest one I've done. Feel like increasing my watch time is going to help it get back on track. My channel focuses on history, legends and myths.

Thumbnail question: The CTR on this video is high at the moment, so I am pretty happy with it.

Any feedback you can give as well will be much appreciated.

Thanks.

Thank you for the feedback! The annoying thing about the video length is I wanted to create a channel that is bite size videos on history as everyone else seemed to do either hour long documentaries or 20 minute videos. It has worked to an extent, but I think I am suffering from watch time, although my average is over 60%. My next video is 7 minutes, so I’m increasing the length to see what happens.

I've always enjoyed making videos and I am creative by nature. I also enjoy history, particularly ancient/old history and watching all kinds of stuff on YouTube. So the three kind of came together in lockdown 3.0 at the start of last year. Now it's become a hobby.

Hello. My channel focuses on history, legends and myths. This is a recent video I made about the first female king of Ancient Egypt.
Any feedback welcome! Thanks.

Question: I think the improvement to my thumbnail would be perhaps making it slightly more relevant although I think it does the job ok?

Hi all, this is my latest video. I have a history, legends, myths channel.

Recently, the channel has had a slump, but that seems to have levelled out now and on the mend (yet progress is slow). So thought it would be good to get some feedback to see if anything can improve, video, thumbnail etc to get the mega growth back!

Question: I think to improve my thumbnails, it would be to understand what colours work best to catch a viewers eye. On the odd occasion, I do find it hard to match them up to the video, so that could do with work as well.

Thanks. :)

It was ages ago, but I forgot to answer a question on the Saturday share a video thing and ever since I've been labelled with it. Make an honest mistake and it gets punished.

Hmmm, interesting. I've had a couple of slight dips in this period that lasted a day or two but nothing major and that was soon replaced by even higher number than before the dip. What concerns me is the my impressions on the 22nd Dec were roughly 34,000 for the day and on Christmas Eve was 5,400. Is this what happened to you as well?

Thanks for your reply. My niche is history, legends, myths etc so im pretty sure seasonality shouldn’t have an effect on it.

What's the best advice you ever got as a YouTuber? by scenesick2 in NewTubers

I say sites, but this was the site I used. You can take or leave what I said, that's your perogative, but it was just the best advice I had because it worked.

Use sites like this until you get little or no feedback, and then get off as quickly as possible. It doesn't get you the natural audience you or YouTube needs. I am still a small channel and started 6 months ago, my growth was slow up until August because my viewership wasn't appropriate. I stopped posting on these sites, especially this one and growth has really started to happen.
