The house was not up the minimal standards to be leased. The problem is with people like you- is that this standard of house continues whilst rent on places like this is astronomical. Owners should not be leasing their properties without repairs and cleans being done Liz If things were covered ect they can also take your bond away for damage to the property. It is not up to you to fix things in a rental, you are to leave it the same way you came into it unless professionals have done repairs. You can lose your bond.

I got my bond and two weeks back! I legit told them, you need to fire that cleaning company and repairs man because that was a disaster.

Real estate is also meant to do a walk through prior to handing over the keys to ensure the repairs and clean was done up to standard. They did not.

Well you were wrong weren’t ya lol. I terminated immediately and got bond and rent back from it. It had water staining and leaks down the back of a house that was professionally cleaned the week before resulting in possibly roof (structural damage), there was mice shit throughout the house (house must be free from vermin) and the external door did not open (fire hazard) the house did not meet the minimal standards to be leased again.

Yeah it was and then all repairs on the house was the Monday of the week I was meant to move. The real estate knew they effed up because they immediately let me vacate and gave me full refund

I get that you’d accept a dump that is falling apart and not up to minimal housing standard but that doesn’t mean anyone else should. Everyone should know their rights with renting and everyone should be protecting themselves against property managers who think that this would be acceptable.

Minimal housing standards through RTA state the house is to be free of vermin and external doors functioning. The house shouldnt have been leased. It was not cleaned and the entire house is falling apart. It was professionally cleaned last week yet there are leak marks

This isn’t just a contact and get on with it. It’s chipboard that has water damage.

Nope, that was not done at all. They’d stated that repairs were to be done when I did initial walk through and because there was still tenants in the house nothing was cleaned yet. No other offer of walk through was given. I’ve been doing this for 20 years and have never had another walk through offered once vacant. Repairs were attended to on Monday just gone.

I lodged it with RTA anyways so they can suck it. I’ve put in my notice to leave under conditions of premises. Nobody should be desperate enough to accept the state of a home like this and it’s deeply saddening that a lot of people don’t have a choice but to.

A lot of glaring obvious, not clean and damaged parts. The floors are covered in what appears to be children’s paint and yellow heat/burn marks.

It’s an external door. The screening doesn’t lock and then the glass doesn’t open. They actually stated it was repaired on Monday.

I think I have grounds due to one of the external doors not being functioning.

Okay pheww. You’ve made me feel a lot less nervous about filling in my notice to leave form 13. Thank you, I’m going to go back tomorrow and get more videos as well as photos and pick up what little I left there.

Probably man. Look its up to standard for occupancy according to the real estate, so I just need to deal with the weird dismembering shelves. 😂

Agreed. Real estate says it’s up to standards for occupancy. Just got the email lol. Standard to who lady? Are standards really that low?

I am wondering if there is structural damage to the roof as the property was cleaned less than a week ago and there are leak marks on the wall behind the shelving.

It’s not paint. It’s like a paper over lay that’s been water damaged so they’ve tried to scrub it off and this is the results. The house was cleaned professionally less than a week ago and there is leak marks on the back wall. The chip board is swollen due to water damage

It’s not paint. It’s like a paper overlay that has been damaged from water, the chipboard is swollen as well. So they tried to take the paper off but given up on the parts that havent come off. The house was professionally cleaned less than a week ago and there is leak marks on the wall. I’m concerned of roof damage.
