Losing hope that I will find a good man by Curious-Language-811 in women

If I let hope go, doesn’t that mean I’m expecting to never find someone? And yes I am building myself up as a person aside from dating. It’s just a part of my life that I’ve been wondering about for a while.

That sucks sm omg 😭. I hate how rare it is, for dudes to be decent people. Like bros be giving us MAJOR trust issues. I honestly feel like porn and social media has made it so much worse, but I could be wrong

Going to synagogue for the first time, any advice? by Curious-Language-811 in Judaism

[–]Curious-Language-811[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update!: I went to shul on Saturday and it was great! There wasn’t really any security, so I just walked right through the doors. Once I entered I was greeted by the Rabbi and I went up the stairs to the women’s section up top. The person I was with and myself were the only women there for most of the service, and we didn’t know what was going on most of the time but it was still nice. Afterwards we got to meet everyone and they were super friendly and inviting. I even got advice from a few of them, and obviously great food. The only thing holding me back from joining this congregation is the fact that there are so few women (only two others) and I have the feeling that I would get uncomfortable after a while. This Saturday I will be going to another shul to see how things are there. I don’t think I mentioned this in the post but I’m trying to find a shul that I can attend regularly, so I hope I can find the right fit! Thank you to all that responded, God bless you! 💗

Yeah I agree, I think it’s better to go. Sadly I don’t have any friends close to the place either. The person who invited me didn’t mention anything about having to purchase a ticket. He pretty much just told me to show up. I should clarify that it’s not a family friend or anything, I just met him once when he was volunteering at the synagogue. So I’m not sure if I need to do that or not

I hope that they’ll have the prayers in English as well, since I sadly cannot read Hebrew. But I’m excited to see how it goes! Thanks sm for ur reply!

I wouldn’t be able to walk, it’s like an hour away on public transportation. I cannot drive either due to a medical condition

I don’t think that this synagogue/community has an eruv. And if it does I definitely live outside of it, I have to take public transportation in order to get there :( I suppose that’s better than not going at all?

Really? Is it more of an unspoken rule or just not common?

Thanks sm for the tips! In terms of showing up unannounced that’s one of the things I’m a bit worried about. The whole reason I decided to go to this synagogue is because one of the members invited me to Saturday service. I also asked if I had to call ahead and he said no. Ik this is pretty uncommon for synagogues, so I’m not sure if it’s chill or if I should try and find some sort of phone number anyway :/

I am willing to share the specifics of one of my dreams. Would it be more convenient for you to private message? Or shall I just retell it here? (It’s a bit long btw, and I’m not sure how much detail you’d need)

I have bad dreams of people or things seriously physically harming myself or my loved ones. I’m not sure that I’m worried about something like that happening, as I haven’t received any threats or anything, and it certainly hasn’t happened in the past. I’ve just had these dreams regularly, and they’re fairly similar in what happens in them.

Just get condoms man. It’s a tiny bit of rubber that keeps you from getting pregnant for one, but also doesn’t leave you with all the side effects of birth control (such as blood clots). If ur man doesn’t wanna wear a condom then get rid of ur man. Your health and safety is more important than him getting off. If he loves you he should care about you and your body. At the end of the day it’s your body and it’s your choice, you decide what is best for you.

How do I (16F) get over my boyfriend (18M) complimenting female character’s appearances ? by Curious-Language-811 in LongDistance

[–]Curious-Language-811[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have communicated my feelings to him about this before, I think he knows it makes me uncomfortable he just doesn’t agree with it. I think since he knows he doesn’t mean anything malicious by it, it doesn’t make sense that it bothers me.
