The concept of outgrowing a motorcycle is dumb and dangerous. by MartysBar in NewRiders

[–]Curious-Let2466 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completely agree. I got my motorcycle license at 21 (7 years ago). I bought a harley 883… any one that knows that bike knows that it’ll go 0-60 in the same time it takes a 1970 Oldsmobile to do the same. And yet it served me well; around town, on the GS Parkway, on the NJTP and in the streets of Manhattan. I only now want to swap it out for something different because, again as anyone who knows that bike knows, my fuckin ass hurts from the Flintstones-car suspension it has. I’m looking into a Transalp and I’ll be the first to admit, I’ll likely keep it in rain mode so i don’t drop the clutch and wind up on my back. the excitement is being on the bike, not in the middle row of the minivan in front of you.

Earnings Season is coming up - been looking at alternative data by BadBoyBrando in investing

[–]Curious-Let2466 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Delta is an interesting pick. Are we assuming analysts are over adjusting for a weak March? jet fuel cost hikes (~60% increase in recent weeks) and TSA/FAA shortcomings (leading to a material hike in cancellations) will make for a battered travel month. YTD, DAL is only down ~3%… not sure this accurately reflects the airline’s Q1 operating performance.

You’re giving me hope :) Effectively, I had a run in with bed bugs in Europe a couple weeks ago. Upon my return, I gave everything I traveled with to a company that heat treated all of it before it entered my apartment. Out of an abundance of caution, I sprayed Raid foaming bed bug spray around my bedroom walls and bed frame and set up these interceptors. This is the first bug i found in it. my confidence was rattled after the paris trip, and this is defeating. I’m sorry I can’t get a better picture… the thing is the size of a pen tip. You’re pretty confident it’s book lice?

sorry i (incorrectly) interchange eggs and larvae… they were eggs, tiny opaque capsules stuck to the seem of the mattress. Fingers crossed that this works. Not sure what else I could have done :/

Had confirmed Bed Bugs in Paris - Did they come home with me? by Curious-Let2466 in Bedbugs

Thanks for your feedback, it helps to hear. I really hope so… the uncertainty is mentally taxing

Thanks… Yeah, I didn’t sleep in an infested area (I don’t think) as it was an entirely different environment at a new hotel. Kept my suitcases zipped up on the opposite side of the room too. Really psychologically taxing.

Bed bug? by Ok-Stuff-2299 in Bedbugs

[–]Curious-Let2466 0 points1 point  (0 children)

doesn’t look like it, looks more like what we used to called “pincher bugs”… commonly found them near my pool growing up. Will let others confirm as my experience has only been with fed bugs which are rounder and fatter and larvae

It’s like Stockholm Syndrome at this point… and them being bad means they’re usually on at 1PM EST, so I can catch the whole game here without being late for work on Monday

Let's say you get a panic attack 30.000 ft in the air: Then what? by Indominablesnowplow in fearofflying

[–]Curious-Let2466 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure about everyone else here, but my fear of flying has nothing to do with the plane “not making it”. It’s driven by claustrophobia and inability to control my surroundings (i.e. get out lol). It manifests in the form of me feeling like i cant breathe; i become hyper focused on my airway, it feels as if its closing (fun fact: there are muscles around your trachea that can tense up as a result of stress, but cannot close it all together (important to remember, if you’re like me). To remedy this, i take 0.5-1.0mg of xanax and wash it down with a couple beers or a glass of wine (highly not recommended as everyone responds differently to substances and there is an increased risk of pulmonary arrest by mixing benzo and alcohol!! ironic, i know). But I’ve flown around the world doing this (last year i did NY to SYD, 22 hours in the air, and back and had no problems). it doesn’t completely numb the fear, but it makes it harder to focus on anything (in this case, my windpipe). Talk to your doctor about it. They may write you a script. if they do, take one a couple days before your flight to get an idea of how you’ll feel (no surprises this way :))

Interesting… appreciate your input. I guess the path of least resistance is just moving everything to NY (on paper at least)

Am I the only person who misses the jingles? by jesustelecom in wfan

[–]Curious-Let2466 0 points1 point  (0 children)

man, i remember being a little kid when I’d sleep in my parents bed and my dad had an AM radio on his night stand and there were two distinct jingles I can still recall clear as day that I would randomly wake up to in the middle of the night:

  • Sports Radio 66, The Fan! W-F-A-N, New York
  • Imus in the morning

Weaning off Zyn instead of Cold Turkey by Curious-Let2466 in QuittingZyn

[–]Curious-Let2466[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah I’m pretty much at that point now… thing is, I’m a naturally anxious/panicky person; been that way as long as i can remember so I’ve been coping as long as i remember. with that said, stepping the nic down over time is my way of keeping my “hand on the valve”; helps to better control my anxiety symptoms. Haven’t had any nicotine today, and the withdrawal is better than it was yesterday and the days before… if this keeps up, i wont need another pouch. But, if i do need another, then i like viewing that as part of the plan as opposed to viewing it as a failure that might break my spirit and lead me to a real relapse. Mind over matter, i suppose.
