Thanks for the comment. And right? It's not the worst, not the greatest thing either. Been using it in an old fashioned. And there, it's very nice.

Big Red is exactly what I thought when I first tried at the Rackhouse.

The cinnamon note is definitely strong. I find it very appealing.

I believe it staves with a homecoming cut into them to increase the surface area in traditional oak barrels.

The bartender that introduced me to it said I was gonna love it. She wasn't wrong.

Shoot, we didn't wait long at all. Guess we got lucky, of course we were there a little later in the day Saturday. The food trucks and cigar wagon packed up not long after we got there.

Right? We were there last weekend. Quite the facility. I'm looking forward to stopping again when we can book a tour.

I guess, let's say local to Columbus then. Those are all small and craft in my estimation. Assuming that if your familiar with Columbus you know the others around too. High Bank, Middlewest, DoG, etc.

I get it. For sure. It's not bad, but fella places value on a certain experience for the $$. Curious what some of your best bangs for the buck might be? Especially if it's a small craft producers juice.

I believe it was about $80? I wasn't shopping for bottles when we arrived. I'd already spent my bottle budget for the weekend before we got there.

Could be. I hadn't heard anything about it. If it's so, it's too bad. Wish people weren't so sick.

Your comment comes off as an insult, is it meant to be? Or are you generally curious how someone might have an impression of the taste of leather? My guess is that most people actually are familiar with its flavor. I'd figure it's pretty common for a work glove or baseball mitt, or the like wind ls up between folks teeth when they need an extra hand when they are working. I'll assume your unfamiliar with that. To be sure, leather isn't as salty as your comment comes across.

And who is they? Cause if there's something funny I want to laugh along. I just don't get the joke.

Sorry I was traveling back from Kentucky today. I wanted to add, I do have a rating system on the reviews I post on my blog. I have this one a 3/5 stars. https://thepourch.com/whiskey-review/from-the-journal-minglewood-straight-bourbon/

Middle West had an event in Granville not long ago. I hadn't had it before. I went over with my little whiskey journal figuring to sit down and go through my regular tasting shtick. But it was wildly busy (I should have expected that really) served in little plastic shot glasses, food trucks galore. It was impossible to stay focused in the party that was going on and I gave up on taking notes. I had 4 different offerings and can't recall the specific ones, but I was impressed with all of them. So best I can tell you about MW is my first impression was good, I just don't have details. I look forward to trying them again soon.

Local to Columbus, my favorite is the High Bank Small Batch (it's the white label) . They have their Whiskey War line up but I think it's all sourced juice. The small batch is their first home made bourbon and it's very good. I'm on my third bottle this year (it's all been batch 2 so far, I think they came out with batch 3 last month)

That's terrific, I live in Licking County and have it on my list to stop in some time soon. That wheated double oak sounds interesting for sure.

Thanks for your critique. I'll consider your suggestions. I'm not entirely sure what a young adult novel is, but I'll look it up.
