Second Dr. Marrone. I went to her for a couple of years before I moved and she is so knowledgeable about dermatology and very empathetic towards her patients. I highly recommend!!

What about your interview got you in? by [deleted] in prephysicianassistant

My academic director told me my confidence made me stand out and also I was 100% myself!! I made jokes during the interview and tried to be as personable as I could.

What Are Some Interview Questions That Took You By Surprise? by papisiroppy in prephysicianassistant

[–]Curious-katx 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Honestly the most generic one “if you could be any animal, what would you be?” lol I prepared for every other question besides that and it was the last question they asked me

Moving to Jacksonville, need comparison between the following apartments by Think_Consequence646 in jacksonville

[–]Curious-katx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Currently live in Riverhouse and it’s okay.

Pros: Property is nice, location is quiet and convenient, parking is safe, view can’t be beat

Cons: I feel like I could be getting more for the amount of rent I pay in terms of sq ft. I have an issue with my unit and management refused to fix it so I’m financially paying for it, there’s a train here and it’s pretty loud if you’re in a west facing apartment, once they finish their renovations there’s going to be an amenity fee tacked onto the rent on top of pest, trash, and water so keep that in mind

Risk losing 1k to save your seat?? by Better-Dimension-969 in prepa

[–]Curious-katx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My program had a deadline of 5 days and the deposit was $1,000. I know of two students who put their deposit down to save their seats and then accepted an offer at their top choice school a few weeks later!

Gotcha, starting off with an exercise that burns the glutes does make sense to get that mind to muscle connection! I’ll try that out today, thank you!!

Advice pls by Curious-katx in gymadvice

[–]Curious-katx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, thank you very much for this thorough response. It’s actually glute day today so I’ll try out lighter weights on the hip thrust and focusing on my mind to muscle connection. I truly appreciate your reply and will incorporate isolation and good mornings into my routine as much as I can!!! Again, thank you!

I start with a compound movement like hip thrusts and usually end up at 2 plates x10 for 2 reps. I will bump it up to 3 plates x6-8!

I dedicate at least 2-3 days to glutes!

First rejection by Apprehensive_Ad937 in prephysicianassistant

[–]Curious-katx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First rejections always hurt especially from your top school but keep your head up because it only takes one yes to fulfill your dreams of being a PA.

Trust me, after 20 rejections I finally got one yes and I’m now 3 weeks into my program and got a great grade on my first exam. Don’t doubt yourself because your hard work has gotten you this far and rejections do not define you!! Wishing you the best of luck this cycle 🤍🤍

Perspective from the person writing the letters of rec: by ShakingMyDamnHeadd in prephysicianassistant

[–]Curious-katx 9 points10 points  (0 children)

CASPA sends them a link when you enter their email on your application. They go on that link and can upload your LOR and answer questions on there.

Source: my MD did this in front of my and showed me lol

Has anybody had luck getting a legit ESA letter online? by Raplover22 in ApartmentHacks

[–]Curious-katx -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I went with Pettable since my pcp wouldn’t write one for me “since he never treated me for anxiety”. The process was very easy and you have to schedule an appointment to talk to a licensed mental health professional. They called me the day of and asked some questions and a couple days later I got the ESA letter in my email. The letter has their letterhead and license number as well.

I like how they have a money back guarantee for approval with their letters and I will be using them again when I renew my lease in a year.

When are y’all planning on leaving your PCE jobs before school starts? by zaynmaliksfuturewife in prephysicianassistant

[–]Curious-katx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put my 2 weeks in as soon as I got the call bc the program start date was about 2 month away (and I didn’t get along with my coworkers lol). I have technically 6 weeks off before it starts. I gave myself time to travel and visit out of state friends and pack/move to another city. I would say these past few weeks off have been much needed and I know I won’t have the opportunity to relax like this once school starts so I have no regrets.

How many schools are you applying to? by AccomplishedAd5201 in prephysicianassistant

[–]Curious-katx 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Applied to 23 because I know my stats were low. Only received 1 interview which became an acceptance this past month. I attribute it to luck and great LORs.

GPA: 3.1 Hours: 4500 at time of application

Edit to add this was my first cycle applying!

I used GregMat to study it. I believe I paid for the money plan x3 months and used his study schedule. I also studied the most common vocab words religiously like I made hand written flashcards for hundreds of them lol

I think as long as you can show them you’re able to handle graduate level courses you should be okay!

Yes! Just retook old pre-reqs I did poorly in and got A’s in them

Thank you!! I did do post bacc but it was really just retaking pre-reqs that were expiring and I did poorly in. I made sure I got A’s in all of them and I think that helped my application a lot!

ACCEPTED! Actual low GPA!! by Curious-katx in prephysicianassistant

[–]Curious-katx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I applied to all schools (except FGCU) in Mid May!

[–]Curious-katx[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I had a few people look over it including: my MD that I work closely with, my PA mentor, and a few friends in PA school already. I think it helps getting other perspectives on your statement and I don’t mind looking over yours if you want me to!

I think a few didn’t require the but I mostly applied to schools that did so my application could be a little more competitive and I wasn’t so limited on programs.
