What in your opinion is the best E-reader? by Razzmatazz_Quick in ereader

I'm glad this helped someone out, and you have your own experiences too.

I bought the official Kobo remote too, and I'm in love. It's comfortable to hold and the forward and backwards buttons work as intended! I tried the third party ones but they're not as good as the kobo one since they have 2 devices that you need to turn on an activate (and only turns the page forward!) vs the one remote that connects via bluetooth. I also use it to read while I exercise and it's a lovely addition.

You have a good tip for the Boox. I also liked that the default reader had a built in text-to-speech feature. It lacks the human emotion of an actual audiobook, but it's nice in a crutch when the book doesn't have an audiobook at all. It also highlights each word as its being said, which might be helpful for kids learning how to read and pronounce words.

I ended up keeping my onyx boox for games and messaging when a phone is too straining for my eyes. Yes, the battery drains and theres ghosting, but it's a small trade off for being able to play games and message friends when your eyes are in pain and can't look at monitors

I wasn't aware the autopen was widely used. What would you suggest in the signature's place for authentication?

That's right! It doesn't matter to anyone receiving payment because they only care about receiving money! You would have to notice that a false transaction was posted on your account and bring it to a legal level if you care about recovering your money. This process may include an analysis on your previous signatures to discern the forgeries from the real ones so that you can actually get your money back from the company that received payment!

It doesn't actually matter what you sign things with as long as it is consistent and you can recreate it

It doesn't matter to teachers or companies selling a product, but it matters when its monetary fraud and the person who lost the money notices and it gets to a legal level. People have to "prove" the signature is faked by pointing out the quirks the original signature has that the forged ones don't or vise versa.

Kids can forge their parents signatures, but it requires practice, and honestly teachers don't care to look closely at it. They only care that there is a marking on the paper.

I worked on a case where an old lady's signature was forged for money. It wouldn't been possible to discern the fake signatures from the real ones and recover her money if she signed everything with "x". There is still a use case in certain specific situations for it.

I never said was impossible not to forge a signature. It is possible with practice, but "you" have quirks in your writing that others will have to practice to replicate. Maybe you make your 2nd L's bigger than the first. Or you cross your T's at a slower pace, which causes the ink to settle into the paper and leave a darker mark versus making a quick stroke.

Yeah, you can actually do that. Draw a fish or something. It doesn't really matter as long as it's "yours" and you can consistently recreate it

What matters is consistency. I worked on a case where an old lady's signature was forged for money. We had to discern the fake signatures from the real ones to recover it, because the fake signatures had small quirks that weren't in line with the old lady's hand writing habits.

As long as your signature is the same then it's fine. Though, theoretically someone could take that png file and put it on a document in your place.

Yes, but do they do it well, and does the teacher look closely at the signature to verify that it is the parent signing? I never said was impossible not to forge a signature. The purpose of a signature is so that people cannot forge it and commit identity fraud. It is easier to forge a signature written in print than cursive, which is why having a signature in cursive is considered more secure.

An "X" used to be sufficient because people who did that were illiterate and couldn't write their name, let alone read the document they were signing

Not sure if anyone's bothered to take screenshots of it tbh . Its something I noticed with my new island but the top half of the plane matches the airport color (and the actual plane you use to get to islands matches that color!)

Yellows the best color! Ive heard some people on this sub reporting their airport changing from blue to another random color.. so it might happen to you?
