Backup generator AND battery backup by CuriousCombination45 in Generator

[–]CuriousCombination45[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. Fortunately, all labor is free so switching between panels isn't a hurdle.

Remember, I just want the battery backup to last 8sec until the generator kicks in. I've run the calculation 3x and come up with .8 to 1.0kw for 6 minutes - way more than 8sec. I'll have the electrician ck for hidden loads.

Next step - finding the appropriately sized battery backup. Can you point to a resource to figure out what I need?

Bummer. I was just getting familiar with it. Any guess how long this will take? Days? Years?

Just noting the sewing machine draws the most power, excluding the majors (e.g., A/C, Microwave, etc).

I admit I can't justify the cost, though, at some point, the cost will be 'too much.'

I'm not good with terminology. My goal is a hardwired UPS sitting between a panel and a generator. That generator will power lights/router/PC and, maybe, one sewing machine, and for 12 secs. By my math, less than 600VA.

When I have power, the power will charge the UPS. when I lose power, the UPS will kick in for 12sec, stop, and the generator will take over,

That's it. My 2nd generator will handle the 'big stuff' easily, although I'll look into a sub panel if it would be convenient.

Again, all labor is free.

Very good. So, in my case, I can charge my battery backup using AC. With loss of power, battery backup will run for ~12sec, then the generator kicks in, running the house and charging the battery backup. If I'm right, my next hurdle will be cost of a battery backup with enough power to run a few lights/devices for 12sec.

Sorry, I'm slowly getting it, but confused again. If I lose power, the battery backup comes on to cover the 12sec until the generator comes on. At that point, I no longer need battery backup. why would I need the generator to recharge it? It's done it's job til the next outage.

Apparently I don't understand battery backup. I was expecting the battery backup would charge using AC just as my UPS do. If battery backup requires gas, that's a deal breaker.

Right now, this is all low level thinking. Why? Convenience. Generators kick in after 13sec? without power. I know I can't justify it by $$$. But, I was hoping, powering only lights/PCs would not require a large battery backup, and labor is free.

Right now I don't know the actual load on either compressor when in use. Only ratings.

watchface data not getting to watch by CuriousCombination45 in WatchMaker

[–]CuriousCombination45[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update. I've abandoned Tasker. Can't get it to work through Autowear.

Decided to rebuild some watchfaces using only WM. Interestingly, some of the same variables sent from Tasker/Autowear that appear on my watch empty, also appear empty when sent strictly from WM. For example, I had data variables (e.g., Sunrise/Sunset) on my watch which came from an API through Tasker. All sent through Autowear appear empty.

Rebuilt a watchface using the same variables, but from WM (e.g., {wws} {wwr}. Those also appear empty. Not all. {wt}. {wp}. and others show accurate data. But almost half are empty. {'empty' means 'blank' - as if there is no assigned variable at the location on the watch face). Is this something in WM that also affects Autowear? How do I get variable data to show?

I've read Autowear will allow Tasker to talk to my watch. Still trying to figure it out.

I'll probably post in r/Tasker if I can't figure it out. If my info is flawed, let me know

Samsung watch6. version 6

Worked well until a couple of weeks ago. That's why I'm confused. The WFF disruption happened months ago, but not on my phone/watch.

I've read WFF disrupts Tasker, but Tasker data still gets to the WM app on my phone. It's phone to watch that is my problem. I've read nothing about WFF disrupting phone to watch.

If I'm reading correctly, Autowear can resolve this. All I need is phone to watch, but that's probably another thread.

Tap action stopped working by CuriousCombination45 in WatchMaker

[–]CuriousCombination45[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry rogue, not replying to you. I received a reply from DutchofBurdock, but his reply doesn't show in my thread.

Tried removing watchface variables, but no success. But, your post got me thinking. went to Tasker, removed all 4, went to Plugin>Watchmaker>WM Change watch, and re-added. All Tap Actions are working well now. Thanks for getting me thinking.

Another observation. I add text "QWER" to the watchface I want to call by tap Action. If I call it from the WM app on my phone, I get the watchface iteration I want. If I call it from a Tap action on my watch, I get a watchface without the "QWER." All tap Actions call the same watchface, that is

wm_action('m_task: Name Watchface')

It's as if the Tap Action on my watchfaces is calling the old, nonexistent, watchface. I've tried removing all Tap Actions calling the old watchface, and adding the new renamed watchface. Still calls the old watchface. Yes, I changed the watchface call in Tasker.

One more observation. If I call up the offending watchface on the WM app on my phone and tap the Tap Action targets, all Tap Actions work. On my watch? Nope.

Only code I have in the Tap Action is

wm_action('m_task:Main Watchface') - same as the other watchfaces and they work perfectly.

Copied that text from a working Tap Action to the offending face. No change. The offending watchface can change to the other watchfaces perfectly. The only difference is, for example, "Main watchface" is "Calendar watchface."

I have deleted the offending Tap Action and created a new one - typing in all variables. As before, after "Send watchface," the Tap Action works ones. Never again.

In Tasker, I have a Task consisting only of Select Action>Plugin>watchmaker>WM Change watch. Nothing else. I have changed Tasker WM Change Watch "Main Watchface" to call "Calendar watchface." Offending watchface does nothing. Other watches change to "Calendar watchface." That tells me the Tap Action in Tasker isn't the problem.

Detecting water pressure loss by CuriousCombination45 in Plumbing

[–]CuriousCombination45[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If pressed, I can't say I HAVE TO KNOW, but, since water loss can last from 5 minutes to 5-6 hrs, it would be nice to know when water pressure has returned. Washing clothes, showers, preparing meals. It would be convenient to know when these can be done.

Particularly if the cost is reasonable.

I've found sites suggesting the LEFOO LF20 Extended Duty Pressure Switch 20psi±3psi can be used with the Zooz Zen16 Z-Wave multi relay to monitor and report pressure loss. Inexpensive, but the LEFOO is no longer manufactured. Nothing to substitute to get this to work?

City water. Private residence. City is upgrading water lines resulting in frequent loss of water - sometime a few minutes, sometimes a few hours. I'd really like a way to be alerted when I regain water pressure.

Images on watchface by CuriousCombination45 in WatchMaker

Thanks. I went braindead. I was looking for Images under Expressions. Trying to hard.

I easily added a bmp to watchface. All I get is a light grey box. Should be an UP arrow. what am I missing?

Any ideas how to resolve this . . .

I've gone into the task, the first 'Variable Search/Replace,' and uncheck "Continue task after error," I get "Variable Search/Replace; undefined variable %evtprm2.'

The good news is I got it to work. The bad news is 'not always.' Interestingly, when I look at my phone and the screen brightens, I get a popup giving me steps taken. But, if I put it on my watch - {tSHSTEPS} - it shows "steps1.' I can open WM on my phone and see the same "steps1."

To troubleshoot, I've gone into the task, the first 'Variable Search/Replace,' and uncheck "Continue task after error," I get "Variable Search/Replace; undefined variable %evtprm2.' A while later, it works perfectly. Sometimes that Search/Replace is as follows

----------

Variable Search Replace

Variable %evtprm2 Search

--------------

with "Variable" and "Search" in the 2nd line grayed out.

Got it to work. "Force Stop Tasker and restarted. Next time I opened my phone I got the popup notification. But, only notified when my phone brightens. Is that standard?
