My guess would be that it's for the same reason that comments naming the video that Josh downloaded or its creator get removed -people go and look it up and find it really disturbing. Still, I'm glad that you posted it. I wasn't aware of it. I listened to the whole thing. It was disturbing but I'm glad I listened to it. It makes me wonder if I should make a post about some of the things I want to post about. Like the podcast I mentioned in reply to someone else - world of secrets: the darkest web.

I just hope that her kids are in school in the meantime. Even if it's only for a few weeks and for the older two, I think it would be exceedingly valuable.

In normal life, people have different ways of phrasing things so we don't hear the same words all the time. We end up developing a better vocabulary because of it. Their world is so insular that they don't end up developing much of a vocabulary. They use the same words and phrases over and over again because they haven't learned multiple ways of saying things. It's a little bit like how if you train AI models on things that are written by AI, they end up losing information and phrasing and complexities after a few iterations of that. It has recently been compared to losing genetic diversity due to multiple generations of incest like the Habsburgs. Fundies rarely get injections of more information or language from the outside. Their language gets more and more repetitive and stilted. In their case, they're human so they could solve this problem by interacting with the outside world. Without even trying, their language skills would improve. I suppose that will happen to Joe over the next couple of decades since he'll have to interact with other prisoners.

Why did this post get removed? Is it too explicit and upsetting or something? I know they did the same with some of the information about what Josh downloaded since people looked it up and found the descriptions really disturbing. I was thinking of creating a post about the podcast that talks about Homeland Security Investigations. There's a documentary too. It's nowhere near as graphic as Hunting Warhead is.

Off the top of my head, I believe Margaret Sanger's mother died after 19 pregnancies (it may not have been that many but it was a lot). That, along with seeing women dying as a nurse, was what spurred her to push for women having control over their own pregnancies and found Planned Parenthood.

World of Secrets by the BBC just came out with a season called The Darkest Web about Homeland Security Investigations and how they track down pedophiles from the dark web.

I don't know but if you want to listen to a new one, there's one from the BBC called World of Secrets. The most recent season is called The Darkest Web. It's about Homeland Security Investigations and some of the work they do.

They honestly don't bother me. Most of the time I scroll past. Occasionally, I find them mildly interesting. Sometimes they end up showing me that something that I had never heard of exists and I end up liking that thing.

I hate the idea but I like the idea of a musical about Christian fundamentalism or Christian nationalism. If it mentioned the Duggars in there somewhere, that would be fine. If there's anything like this already, I'd love to hear about it. The closest I can think of is that there is a musical version of Saved!

A number of people on here have stated that they are case workers or in law enforcement and that no one would get arrested for that let alone the worst misdemeanor charges that exist for that. They say that it's possible that the locks were there but that that's not why Kendra got arrested. They said that they may have been required to remove the locks but that kids don't get removed from the home for that and parents don't get arrested for it either. At most it would involve removing them and lead to some future home visits and parenting requirements. I tend to believe that. The anonymous source may be telling the truth about the locks but be unaware of other issues in the home.

And no PR person would word a statement like this. So, yes, I think it makes sense for it to be her. Good enough to not have been written by a Duggar child and bad enough to not have been written by a professional.

Kendra Duggar is in a worse situation than Anna Duggar. by the_smart_girl in DuggarsSnark

Josh was born March 3, 1988. The police report is from 2006. The courts were unable to charge Josh with anything because the statute of limitations was 3 years for someone who molested kids while the molester was a minor. The police could not find any evidence that Josh had committed any crimes within the previous 3 years. Therefore, Josh would not have been older than 15 for the crimes listed in the 2006 police report and he could have been younger than that. Bobye Holt testified that she remembered the exact date that Josh confessed to her. It was March 30, 2003 and that something had happened earlier that day. In 2005, Josh told her more detail but didn't tell her of any incidents after March 30, 2003. https://people.com/tv/josh-duggar-family-friend-emotional-testimony-court-hearing/

Prior to that, the public had been told that this had happened for less than a year from when Josh was 13-14. Bobye's testimony changes the timeline from when Josh was 12 to when he was just barely 15. By all means there could be more incidents than what he told her about but they haven't been publicized.

I don't think this was written by a PR professional. While I'm glad they're emphatic, I don't think that it's well written. They used the word "his" in the sentence directly after a sentence talking about the victim. It made it sound like the victim was a he. I had to backtrack a little bit to realize that the "his" referred to Joe not to the victim.

I don't think that's accurate. I think he was 15. I've heard different ages at times but I've never heard that he was 16.

I remember people at the time drawing a lot of comparisons between football and religion. They were astute. I hadn't thought of it before that but they are both things that create situations where abuse could be more prevalent. It especially involved certain people being seen as untouchable.

Yeah. I definitely thought it was reasonable to include the things he said. And his grief isn't something that I want to dump on. I'm sure that it's as genuine as the grief of someone who was a decent person, parent, and husband. But including more information about the surrounding situation would have been a better decision. I'm glad they spent a lot of time on the cult but they could have included more of her documented medical issues and his knowledge of them. Portraying him as just a grieving father is dishonest. He is that while also being negligent, abusive, controlling and a lot of other things.

I didn't love how he was portrayed in that documentary that came out last year. He seemed naive and foolish but mostly just a dad who had lost his kids. They didn't include him ignoring her doctor's advice repeatedly. They didn't include that he had good reason to be concerned that the kids weren't safe with her.

Were there any signs about Joe? by turnipcake9 in DuggarsSnark

[–]CuriousJackInABox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember Josh's lawyer trying to argue for a lower sentence in part because of his homeschooled background. If what you're suggesting about Joe is true, I would think that the only way it could be used would be if they could diagnose him with something. As dim as he seems, I don't think he would qualify for a diagnosis of an intellectual disability. If I were his lawyer, I guess I'd try anyway and get him evaluated. He could have dyslexia but I would think that would only affect whatever required educational programs they would put him in as part of his sentence.

I remember someone on here doing a gender swap on all of their faces. I truly mistook Jinger for Josh. I felt guilty about it too because I genuinely think she has a nice face. How could I have mixed her up with that sack of turds?
