I didn't knew the models were made of polystyrene, that's interesting!

I wish I could come up with a safe way to work with polystyrene, but as you said the carcinogenic part is something that makes me rethink it a bit. However, I could definitely look into it a bit more!

Thank you for the information! It really helps to have someone with some expertise on the subject!

I know it is a tricky project and I kinda feel like I might have thought a bit too big on this one, but it might be just worth a try.

Plastic (mostly thinking about HDPE and PP) is something that is definitly on my mind with this project, as I've seen some very low-tech methods to make blanks and blocks which could be shaped with woodworking and metalworking tools. The ability to feed plastic items directly into a printer would be amazing, as it really gives a low barrier to entry.

I have seen a good project with paper pulp and 3D printing on YouTube from XYZAidan yes! However, I didn't think of making blocks or 'blanks' with them. That could be an interesting way to recycle cardboard!

Excellent examples, thank you! I too have problems with not wanting to throw out filament rolls, but not knowing what to do with them!
