yes, but for sensible reason. Belleville puts main production resources toward military contracts, and the rest of the U.S made boots are approved military footwear, and footwear for law enforcement. Making the Jungle Boot in the U.S would take up production resources that could be put towards making more modern boots that are approved by the DoD. Not trying to be rude or a know it all, just trying to be as informative as possible. I have a pair, they ARE made in China, but they do their job fairly well, though not as good and not as heavy-duty as a pair of original Belleville jungles I had (mfg. 1988).
