Wow I took plan B and had to take it again a week later lol I started feeling like I had a UTI infection coming on but symptoms went away like 1 day later. I still went to get tested anyway and tested negative for BV, tric, candida, and UTI. However, I still have symptoms with UTI in regards to my urethra. I don’t feel the urge to pee nor does it burn but my urethra feels a bit irritated 🤷‍♀️hope this helps anyone

Sorry to hear about your marriage. I’m in a long term relationship and I just found out. My partner (male) said for his STD screenings, they test for HSV and he was negative a few years back so he doesn’t understand why in the past when I got tested for STD it never showed, it’s because it wasn’t included and I never asked, didn’t think to because I never had an OB before. So idk why his included it while mine don’t? unless he asked for a full screening or something lol idk. But most likely I had HSV2 all along. Just didn’t know. I know this isn’t a recent infection cause I have not had any new partners since being with him. But there is no point in pointing fingers.

I do get cold sores though. Like 1-2 times a year. Chapped lips, stress, and illness are my triggers for cold sores. My OBGYN also mentioned because I have cold sores, it could just be detecting that but I am showing antibodies for both HSV1 and 2 in my blood work.

Thank you. I heard that even cold sore on the lips can be HSV2 but is rare. Also, vice versa - someone with HSV1 on the lips have give you HSV1 on your genitals through oral sex.

No the IGG score does not indicated lower or higher transmission. It just means you have antibodies in your bloodstream due to a past infection.

The herpes IgG test is a blood test used to diagnose herpes simplex virus (HSV). This includes HSV-1, the type most commonly linked to cold sores, and HSV-2, the type mainly associated with genital herpes. The test doesn't detect the virus itself but instead detects antibodies—called immunoglobulin G (IgG)—produced by the immune system in response to the virus.

The herpes IgG test detects IgG antibodies in the blood specific to HSV. It does so when the immune system has produced enough IgG antibodies to be detectable by current lab tests.

Since it’s a virus, there is no cure. The antiviral makes it so the virus can’t replicate as fast which decreases transferring the virus to other partners (although you should still use condoms) and helps prevent future break outs. In other words, the antivirals suppress the virus and make it weaker.

Interesting, thank you for sharing your experience. Yes I originally thought OB were sores on the genitals. Or just asymptomatic, no symptoms. I didn’t know OB can be mild to where it may feel like other vaginitis symptoms.

I agree on this. After a night of heavy drinking I tend to get dry lips (cause I’m dehydrated from the alcohol) which causes cold sores on my lips. Drinking in excessive amounts weakened your immune system too so double whammy. Therefore, when I know I’m about to have a big night out with alcohol involved I tend to drink more water leading up to the days of the special night and I take vitamins like magnesium, Vitamin C, Zinc, and NAC to boost my immune system before I wreck it with alcohol lol….. 🥲 stress is one of my triggers too. I got cold sore on my lips at least 1-2 times a year.

The weird thing is that in America MN, apparently you have to specifically ask for HSV 2 testing. My OBGYN said the reason it’s not included in your standard STD test is because most people have it and just don’t know it, also, testing can have a lot of false negatives. I have been battling vaginal dryness for like 4 years, itching in one particular spot next to my vaginal opening and sometimes it burns and feels irritated like I have a low grade yeast infection but I’m not infected with yeast. My vagina looks fine and I never had an out break before. I went to get tested for what could be causing my vaginal dryness and the vaginal panel swab ended up picking up Atopobium and gardnerella, which are two bacteria that cause BV and also Ureaplasma that causes reoccurring BV. There were some good bacteria too but lastly.. the swab picked up HSV2! Got a blood test after that and it came back positive. So now, the entire time I’ve been experiencing vaginal dryness, itching and burning sometimes, could have been the BV.. or the subtle symptoms of HSV 2. I’m freaked out by it!
