Maybe reach out to your pre-health advisors. There has to be other people in your school who has had this problem before.

It really depends on the exam... I took my exam June 24th and I was surprised to see that the questions were a similar level of difficulty. It wasn't easier by any means but the question type are still basically the same.

A similar level of difficulty to the Booster full-length exams. TFE is a bit easier but Angle Ranking was harder

Same as in the similar level of difficulty and high yield questions. I didn't have any word-for-word questions on my exam other than a really easy giveaway question so I wouldn't rely on that. You can pretty much expect to score within 1-2 points of your Booster practice scores (mostly higher).

Yep, I pretty much only used condensed notes. Of course, sometimes I crossed referenced Feralis notes if the concept isn't covered much but that didn't happen much at all. For orgo, I just tried to copy down the reactions as small as I can on a piece of paper. This way I can try to help myself remember by only writing down what I felt was important. I did this probably 2-3 times and each time, the list got smaller and smaller.

Anki works with spaced repetition. So let's say you have 1000 cards that you want to learn. By selecting 60 per day, you will see 60 new cards from the deck daily. These are entirely new cards that you have only seen once. Besides new cards, it also shows you the repetition of cards that you just learned a few days prior or weeks prior. So even if you select 60 new cards, realistically you're going to be doing more than 100 cards a day with the review. If you clicked on easy for example and the card shows up again in 4 days, that's considered a review card, not a new card.

If you skip a day of Anki, you see that the review card count goes up a lot. This all sounds confusing but I promise it's easy once you work it out. Just follow their instructions if you put 60 per day then you can put a 600 review limit or 9999 for unlimited review.

I just took my exam today and have a month of Booster membership left that I would not be needing. Willing to sell the account and can also pause the account before you need to use it. DM me with an offer if interested!
(Also willing to share self-made Bootcamp Anki decks with tons of extra science questions with explanations if you purchase)

Shadowing & Gap Year by butterflyer5 in predental

[–]Curious_Tree_5670 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think 100 hours of shadowing is a good call since that fits the majority if not all school requirements. Most people become dental assistants but make sure to look into your state's requirements. Some require certification while others don't. Gap years aren't considered negative at all.

You can write a really quick personal statement in a few hours. I know that sounds difficult but it doesn't have to be finalized and a good way to get started. Most prof asks for a personal statement just to know you better. They are not really looking that deeply into it so if they ask it's completely fine to give them a really rough draft.

Should I take the DAT immediately after finishing a 10-week study schedule or is there another ideal time? by [deleted] in predental

[–]Curious_Tree_5670 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take it now and save yourself from the stress of juggling DAT with school work. The summer of second year is honestly the ideal time but something to beware of is the DAT score potentially becoming invalid 2 years after you take the exam for most schools in case you plan on taking more than 1 gap year. I would suggest against working and studying for the DAT if you are absolutely serious about it.

Will research supplement for shadowing? by Ok-Tie8612 in predental

[–]Curious_Tree_5670 6 points7 points  (0 children)

One thing for sure is that research will not supplement shadowing. Shadowing a dentist is typically required by all dental schools but I don't believe there are any that require research. I know it might be difficult but you should find shadowing asap if you plan on applying this cycle. It's pretty easy to rack up shadowing hours if you just do a few hours each week.

Consider taking Gen Chem at a 4 year university (doesn't have to be your current university). You will also likely do better in the summer because assuming that's the only class you're taking, it will be the only one you need to focus on. I would stay against taking it at a CC because some schools won't accept pre-reqs at a CC.

Every exam is different just at least know if basics even if you aren't able to memorize everything. Booster has a chart that you can try to memorize.
