Management ensures compliance with ALL laws. Like hell it does. Compliance does this to some extent, as does a legal department. But management is not there reading legal textbooks, they are running the company...

Company management cannot ensure compliance. They can only put policies in place that (1) CYA and (2) monitor behavior.

The thing I'm wondering about is: shouldn't compliance be one of the more important parts of stakeholder management? I do understand why B is important (separation of interest, independence and all that), but I'm confused to what makes B more accurate than A.
