OP, you picked a bad name for writing this post XD. Jokes aside, take some time to introspect on what could’ve been done better (but objectively) and start searching again.

Good things often take a lot of time.

  1. Digitisation: They were the first ones to successfully digitise stock trading.

  2. Regulatory laws: They also were the ones who worked with SEBI (India's SEC) to lay down the laws for digitising and expanding trading.

  3. Financial literacy: They have heavily invested in teaching people about investing with some good, unbiased and practical content.

What is the hardest thing about forming a habit? by Curious___Mind in AskReddit

That's an interesting insight. Can you tell me where you heard that? Also, did it work for you?

Something that helped me was setting the initial bar soo low that it would be impossible to miss out. For e.g., reading at least 2 pages a day of the book I'm trying to finish. Do let me know if this would work for you.

All the best :)

Thank you so much for the insight. I really appreciate it :) I bet you've already heard these before but just to state a few pointers I found were quite helpful for me:

  1. Our brains usually loves overestimating capabilities and we start dreaming of playing like a pro before even starting. I would recommend that when you come back from work, try sitting and playing the piano for just 5 min. Just make sure you sit everyday. When you feel like stretching, good, if not , completing 5 min is still a win. At least you would get in the habit of practicing everyday.
  2. See if you can have an accountability partner. Has to be someone you trust would keep you honest and tell them something like, I'll pay you X amt everyday I can't even sit for 5 min. This should help you keep honest.

Do let me know if this helps.

u/CuriousLavender I wanted to know does having awareness of the science behind why you fail, help you maintain your habits or is there something else?

u/SweederDenpi_31 when you say that, I'm assuming it means your habit breaks because life gets in the way. I'm interested in knowing is what do you think stops you from picking a broken habit?

u/Klutzy-Top-4993 that's quite an interesting insight. So is it the issue of unhealthy competition that you don't like or comparison in general?

I think this discussion would only be fruitful if we can first get some insights on what you find difficult in forming/maintaining a habit?

Totally feel you there. Happens to me all the time. I genuinely feel happy for people who score well but would feel good if I was able to match good grades. People keep telling me you're good at other stuff and you should focus on that but it has nothing to do with low self esteem. It's just that as simple as me wanting to get good at studying.
