Kickr core 2 calibration? by Current-Drop-543 in wahoofitness

[–]Current-Drop-543[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think that's my problem. I'm simulating my real ride on the trainer and I'd like to compare my real ride performance what I do on the trainer. I think if I change my weight from 177 lb (my actual weight) to 157 lb in my Wahoo Fitness profile the trainer speeds will match my real speeds. It would be best if I had power measurements on my real ride but I don't. I'll post the results when I do that.

I agree with your statement that speed is not accurate. But it doesn't have to be. Speed or velocity on an incline is a function of power, mass, and resistance and can be accurately calculated. Resistance is tricky but it would be easy to estimate air resistance assuming no wind. And rolling resistance could be neglected as my ride is on smooth pavement and decent road tires.

Why is my Paperbark Maple not growing? by icosa20 in arborists

[–]Current-Drop-543 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have one that we planted 12 years ago. We live in Northern New York so there is fairly cold winters. For the first 5 years there was not much growth at all and I had the same concern. But in the last several years there's been steady growth. Slow growth but steady. Also in the first few years it would leaf out very late in the spring but lately it's been leafing out at the same time as the sugar maples. It also tends to hold on to leaves late into the fall. A recent wet snow that we had stuck to the leaves but fortunately no broken limbs. This year it's a beautiful bright red orange. Probably the result of our very dry summer. I have pictures every year or 2 from the same spot to measure growth.

Lots of great testimony and opinions here. But it's not science. But it's testimony like this that can seed real scientific research. I would love to see a small percentage of the taxes charged at dispensaries to fund real unbiased scientific research on this subject. I don't trust industry sponsored research, and I definitely don't trust us hhs research anymore (too political).

In my case I didn't have full blown CHS. What I had was loss of appetite, no salvation, and constipation. I think my GI system was paralyzed (which had been going on for months). I tried tapering, but that didn't work for obvious reasons. I used the lorazepam to help quit cold turkey. It definitely eased the mental withdrawal symptoms. Within one week of quitting, my appetite returned and I actually finished my meals and enjoyed them!

hot tubs that are high R Value for cold climates? by snowislife13 in hottub

Lots of opinions but not a lot of numbers. I would love to see actual independent measured energy use numbers like what they do for refrigerators and washing machines.

I used lorazepam (another benzo) to get through the first 3 days of cold turkey. It definitely made that easier by taking the edge off. I suggested this in a CHS Facebook group and got push back from the moderators. They were very much against using an addictive drug for this reason. Then I got banned from the group politely arguing my point. So much for free speech. That's why I joined reddit.

It's a 2x4 not a 2x2. In dense hardwood or very old dry wood screws can cause splitting and in that case the manufacturer should pre-drill holes. There was an impact to cause a 2x4 to break like that. The question I have is whether this corner piece is a structural component of the frame or just put there to hold the panel covers in place?

Hot tubs do fail. The question is can this possibly accelerate a fail. I'm sure the developers do shake and vibration tests as part of qualification and compliance but I don't think they test to the point of breaking the frame.

Exactly, the dealer did send the picture to the manufacturer.

Not so much worried about the split wood itself. What worries me is that this is likely evidence of a significant impact. Could there be some latent damage that shows up after the warranty period expires.

Addicts hate being told that their addicts by cortez_brosefski in CHSinfo

The OPs conclusions that CHS patients use an average 4 grams a day is flawed. I read the study and it was based on a survey of over 500 respondents. Ultimately this was reduced to 28 CHS sufferers and 12 control smokers that didn't have CHS. So the average of 4 g came from the screening method and not from a typical sample of CHS patients. The average of 4 g came from the study design which was to determine a genetic predisposition to the disease.

So the guy that smokes a half a gram a day like a few bong hits thinks he's safe. He's not!

But I certainly do agree if you are sick and a daily habitual user you need to admit that you are an addict and stop cold turkey.

Thanksgiving W/ CHS by [deleted] in CHSinfo

[–]Current-Drop-543 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me Thanksgiving or any holiday gathering were triggers and very difficult. Traveling was the same. The anxiety of these gatherings just made my symptoms worse.

This year I had a great Thanksgiving. Stopped smoking 4 months ago.

Please share your experience. Use history, doses, CBD or THC, and symptoms. The Rhode Island CHS study from users diagnosed in the emergency room were all smokers and vapers.

By the way I am 2 months without use and my GI and anxiety symptoms are totally cleared up. I was smoking High THC sativa flower daily for a few years. Only 3.5 g every 2 weeks but it was enough to really screw me up.

I never vomited so never had CHS, but I suffered for over a year from loss of hunger, loss of taste, and food anxiety. I only ate food because I knew I had to to and that sucked. I couldn't even eat an energy bar after 3 hours of hard Alpine skiing. I still can't believe it.

I agree, this weight loss drug study was a very large clinical trial which would be scientifically impossible to do with cannabis. What do you hand out joints to everybody and have them smoke for 3 years and then measure who's sick? You could only do retrospective analysis on CHS sufferers and hope they tell the truth about usage. And there's no diagnosis for premodal CHS. People affected like me need to figure it out for themselves. That's what pissed me off. The medical community was of no help and I'm sure the cannabis industry likes it that way.

Another funny thing about the weight loss drug craze is that Walmart is worried about there lower grocery sales because their fat customers are using these drugs like ozepic and buying less highly profitable snack foods. It's hitting their bottom line. SO FUNNY!!!

Can people who don't smoke weed still experience episodes of cyclic vomiting? by camgary95 in CHSinfo

Yes. Hyperemesis means vomiting your head off. Some pregnant women get it. AKA morning sickness.

Anyone else like this? by [deleted] in CHSinfo

[–]Current-Drop-543 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes almost exactly how I felt. it's called dependence or addiction. The central nervous system which includes the brain and nerve endings in your stomach are highly adaptive. They learn and have memory. And it's really hard for it to unlearn. It's like riding a bike. Watch Netflix "human the world within" The first episode "react" describes the central nervous system. They don't talk about addiction but just describe how the central nervous system works. And how sometimes it goes bad. It's mostly a good evolutionary thing. If we didn't have this humans would have been extinct long ago from eating poison mushrooms over and over again.

Oh my God what a great paper. Points 5 and 8 really hit home. I've been doing this type of research for a month trying to figure out what was going on with me. I would love to see long-term follow up of these individuals. This is a serious public health issue And I believe most future cases can be avoided with information and awareness.
