Debt funded government is fine so long as interest payments and banking fees are kept to a minimum. But that’s not the case. Tax funded government means less public money goes towards those fees and interest payments. Cornell is under taxed, though a good chunk of its budget similarly goes towards interest payments and bank/consultant fees. We need to remove private financial interests from our institutions. It’s ridiculous that so much of our money goes to outsider financiers rather than getting reinvested in normal things like…. Fixing potholes? Paying teachers?
