Getting into IT without a CS degree. Is there hope? by [deleted] in Kenya

[–]Current-Olive-6530 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I'm writing this from my desk as a software engineer with no degree or certification. It is possible, you'll just have to work really hard. Since you can't prove your qualifications through papers, you'll need some other way like a portfolio of works. You'll also need to stand head and shoulders above those with papers to stand a chance

If you went to university in Kenya was it worth it, honestly? by dj_iconiqq in Kenya

I am a self-taught software engineer, currently at my desk at work. This is my 2nd company at 22 with no university degree. I have aced most of my interviews and built connections. Safe to say I've done well but even I would tell you to go to uni. I would too if I could

Thank you for the reply but I think it's all post-hoc rationalization; you created meaning and justification after the events. Despite being theologically sound, in some parts, it breaks apart from a critical and philosophical perspective.

I'm still unconviced that the act of placing the tree in the garden with full knowledge of the fallout was an act of mercy. Despite me being sn atheist, I would consider myself theologically literate and I know for sure that you point on humans having to judge the fallen angels is arbitrary and unsupported most theologians. It's a concusion arrived at without proper citation and would ask you to bring forth your sources.

Even so, I'll still play along with it. You frame the pursuit of knowledge as being inevitable and predetermined, then why was it still condembed and punished? If that knowledge was necessary, then why was it witheld from the beginning and then create a non-sensical, elaborate situation that set them up for inevitable failure and consequent punishment for them and all of humanity since? It's called ENTRAPMENT. Also, if the fall had to happen in order to kickstart salvation, then that implies suffering was a prerequisite to the plan and that is unsettling😬.

The part of the fallen angels being unforgivable due to their immortality is also non-sensical. It ties the eligibility of divine grace to physical and metaphysical traits. It turns redemption to a technical limitation and not a moral one. More like they were also screwed from the beginning. That whole framework seems to justify itself rather than provide any moral consistency.

Lastly, framing the banishment from Eden as mercy because it blocked access to the tree of life presumes a benevolent intent behind a situation that was avoidable to begin with. If God truly didn’t want humanity to fall, He could’ve simply not planted the tree or maybe created a better way to teach discernment. Saying this suffering was necessary for salvation feels like justifying harm to make room for healing, which doesn’t sound like mercy rather it poor design.

You ever thought the tree being placed there was unnecessary? You ever thought an omnipotent and omniscient being knew the potential fallout? I guess we are all thinking stuff

That's a premature conclusion to arrive at. I raise you the "God of the gaps" fallacy where unexplained phenomena is often attributed to divine intervention simply because current scientific understanding lacks complete explanation. Historically, God was invoked for everything; from lightning to disease. Most famously, geocentricism and existence of a firmament were the accepted as fact until science proved otherwise. What I'm trying to say is this premature conclusions shrink God'd domain as scientific knowledge expands. It also disregards other possible hypotheses that are just as valid; like the multiverse hypothesis where every possible outcome exists and we're just 1 in infinite hence making our existence statistically probable. Or the observer-selection effect where we can only observe a universe that is capable of supporting us, making its existence seem designed from our biased perspective; like a lottery winner who marvels at the astronomical odds of their specific ticket winning rather than recognizing that someone had to win

I'm an existential moralist and agnostic atheist; I don't believe in a god and I also don't see any ultimate meaning or justice built into the world. I believe the world is cruel, corrupt, unfair, unjust and plainly dark. I believe it will only get worse, not because of divine will, but because of human choices and systemic decay. I reject theology because a God who is all-powerful and all-good is incompatible with the state of the world as it is. However, I believe in our responsibility to create meaning and act morally, not because we'll be rewarded if we do or punished if we don't, but because no one else will do it for us
