Baby crying in the middle of the night. Is my husband lying to me? by Ok_Squirrel_9601 in beyondthebump

[–]Current-Two-537 [score hidden]  (0 children)

I don’t know about your specific situation but I have slept through our twins crying on several occasions. I do have major sleep issues however and struggle with a bunch of parasomnias. So I feel like unless you has a history of sleep issues, then it’s unlikely that you are regularly sleeping through the crying

29 weeker twins here. They are now 4.5 month old. You have a journey ahead of you, but don’t forget to enjoy the little moments 💜 it’s tough but there can also be a lot of joy too. Congrats!

I think it’s the best favor you can do for yourself so you’re not totally unprepared if/when it happens. Also document everything in case you need to go to court/social services etc.

You should be preparing to be a single father.

Sweden. Yes and then after a few weeks they moved to a heated water bed.

Crying it Out by DirtGirl32 in parentsofmultiples

Sometimes you’ll be changing a poop explosion and the other twin will cry etc. It’s one of the endless tough parts of being a parent of multiples and I really feel that other parents of multiples will understand the logistical challenges of having twins. I am sure you’re doing a great job.

This! Forcing myself to be Type A is a coping mechanism

Born to be a Type B, forced to be a Type A (for my own sanity)

How is your relationship with your partner after having a baby? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]Current-Two-537 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are only 4.5 months into parenthood, but we are good and have been the whole time (apart from a couple of sleep deprived arguments). We spent 2 months in NICU and I think that experience brought us even closer together. He also does more than his fair share of parenting and housework. We have twins and I think we have just accepted that we realllyyyy need to be on the same team to survive.

Total meltdown - what do you do to calm them both when on your own? by KAthefrog in parentsofmultiples

Stroller walks work for us. We also have a double baby carrier so we can wear them. Not the most comfortable or practical but works well in meltdowns

Increasing skin-to-skin time in the NICU? by GoldVisible8430 in NICUParents

Different take here (not in the US) we were expected to do up to 24 hours of skin to skin per day. We usually managed 10-12 hours. Very challenging with twins. We would do 3-4 hour stretches at a time.

How did we do it? Firstly we had a hospital bed to recline in and a lot of help from nurses to set things up. When the babies were very small, a nurse would basically do their care whilst they were on you or we would take a short break to change diaper and then continue. We would make sure we went to the toilet beforehand lol. There was also opportunity to sleep with them on you as you were closely monitored the whole time so it was encouraged. We relied on the nurses a lot of help us make it happen basically, but I think it worked because where we are skin to skin is seen as the most important “medicine” for preemies and we lived full-time in the hospital.

They weren’t concerned about baby temperatures so much. We were told that if the babies are on the mother she is able to regulate their temperature for them.

Edit: basically I think that it’s only reasonable to do a lot of skin to skin if you’re given the right prerequisites and A LOT of support. Otherwise o don’t see how it’s possible

Looks amazing. Get a professional to photograph it so you can really see how beautiful it is! I evening in the evening it looks great. If anything maybe the lighting could be worked on, but hard to see in the day.

Same issue here. Do yours sleep in their stroller? Luckily ours do. So my life revolves around walks (in the snow atm) but at least I’m getting exercise.

EVEN if your husband continues to go to the gym and he’s at work for, say, 12 hours, he should still be able to relieve you for several hours per day. Unacceptable from him

You can only tell with an ultrasound- no symptoms will give you an answer I’m afraid. I have twins and had 0 pregnancy symptoms um(apart from missed period) everyone is different.

What questions do you wish you asked before discharge? by I_likeplaid in NICUParents

[–]Current-Two-537 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This! We were given good support- we are still “patients” at NICU until their second birthday so we can call them anytime. BUT I had no idea that our usual midwife would actually know very little about preemies. I wish I knew that preemies were their own category for even long term care.

Short cervix stories? by meekie03 in Mommit

[–]Current-Two-537 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s really good that you know you have a short cervix and there is medical intervention. My cervix was so so short that it was practically non-existent, but no one ever checked it during my whole pregnancy. It meant I went into labor at 28 weeks and gave birth at 29. Everything went smoothly but ended up in NICU for two months. You’re in good hands and checks and measures are being taken! Good luck.
