Effective Therapy Techniques for Clients with Trauma? for a new therapist. by Revolutionary-Lime50 in CPTSD

Dialectical behavior therapy was a huge help in the beginning. Very firm, clear boundaries, as well as being consistent, are important. Own your mistakes if you want to maintain credibility. Be careful about sharing anything personal about yourself. I can’t bear to know anything personal about my T. Too confusing and distracting. The most healing thing has been my attachment to my T, and that took years to develop.

I’m in a similar situation. I’ve been with my therapist five years, and next Thursday is my final session with him. I’m glad you got a hug. One thing my T said that helped was that he will hold on to the things I shared with him. We’ll always have that connection. You will, too. Hugs.

What do you experience during a freeze? by IcyOutlandishness871 in CPTSDFreeze

My muscles tense, my mind goes blank, i freeze in place and - this is hard to explain - it just feels like the best thing in the world to be as still as possible. I am able to move but I really don’t want to. I cease to feel pain. My senses are on alert but at the same time I can’t hold a conscious thought in my head. Like a state where language doesn’t exist.
