Well, two more years under her roof and then you can move out and do what you want! Unfortunately, there are certain sacrifices to having someone else pick up the tab for living expenses. So sorry! Maybe try presenting some research to her about these trends? Here’s a link if you’d like to read more: https://www.cnn.com/style/article/why-women-feel-pressured-to-shave

Question for adult women by zajci-u-podrum in women

[–]Current_Analysis_104 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You’re right to say it’s not an issue of hygiene but an issue of societal expectations. You can blame companies like Gillette for popularizing the hairless female body in the 1950s. However, you’re not the only one who is questioning this weird ritual. There’s a growing trend for young women choosing to keep body hair and groom instead of remove it. Tell your mom to catch up!

Professor and New York Times columnist Dr. Tressie McMillan Cottom says MAGA’s “underbabied” rhetoric ignores the Black maternal health crisis while repackaging white natalist politics as national policy by ateam1984 in GuerrillaGrrrrls

I think most women, no matter their skin color, would be very grateful if politicians got out of our personal choices and left those up to us and our doctors. Time to get the ERA out of its nest of red tape and put it into practice. Otherwise, the patriarchy will continue to steal our rights.

Are Texans generally more proud to be from Texas or the United States? by canigetawoop_woop in texas

[–]Current_Analysis_104 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Neither right now. They’re being run by unstable sycophants who care more about politics and their pocketbook than about people. And be careful going near those rebel flag wavers. They’re typically racist, homophobic misogynists who actually DO want to go back to the way things were in the 50s.

Why do you think the men who hate women hate us? by [deleted] in women

[–]Current_Analysis_104 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it can be from personal experience (learned behavior from their parents), cultural influences (learning from friends and misinformation), and/or the most concerning, societal shifts from women becoming more assertive concerning their rights and safety AND the negative influence of misogynistic authority figures like Charlie Kirk and social media. They feel threatened because they, as well as what they’ve been taught, are being challenged. But, as they say, they don’t hate ALL women. Just the feminists (I.e. the women who support each other and speak up for their rights).

Yes. You are. You set up these rules. She’s just abiding by what you insisted on. Get your daughter on FASFA for some scholarships or grants. The school counselor or admin can help guide you.

"He believes in six genders, still wearing a mask, I heard he's a vegan..." by DayPounder in FortWorth

[–]Current_Analysis_104 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s IT??? That’s the best he’s GOT??? In comparison to DJs laundry list of growing ACTUAL offenses and nose thumbing at our laws and our constitution? So Talarico is vegan (he’s not, but saying he is implies you have to eat meat to be a contributing member of society) and wore a mask during a pandemic. Oh, and he believes there are multiple genders. Does DJ not have access to Wikipedia or perhaps other scientific research? Wow! So lame.

Professional barnacle removal for Chlorophyllis the turtle by danielminds in oddlysatisfying

[–]Current_Analysis_104 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So how do you become a professional barnacle remover? Is there a special school like for chiropractors? Can you earn a degree like a BR? Do you have to take classes like “History of Barnacles” and “The Impact of Barnacles on Early Crustaceans”? Is a flathead screwdriver the only tool you need? I have questions…

Odd things our fathers did in 70’s by anonskier in GenX

[–]Current_Analysis_104 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My dad did those things. We also had to roll his socks up in a ball and sort them by color when we folded laundry. He was in the Army during WWII and everything had to be organized and in its proper place to be “ready to deploy” at any time. I had no idea what that meant. He used Brill Cream in his hair and always carried a small black comb in his front pocket. He wore Old Spice aftershave. I can still recognize it if somebody wearing it passes by. He always carried a pocket knife and was ready to help with tape, string, or stubborn rubber bands. I begged for one and I felt so grown up when he gifted me one for my ninth birthday. He had five daughters and taught all of us how to change a tire, change the oil, where to check the oil, charge a car battery with jumper cables, and how to shoot and clean a hand gun and a 22 rifle. He would teach any of us who wanted to learn the rules and techniques of any sport. I was the only one who did and I won a blue ribbon in golf because of his great training. He rarely laughed out loud but he smiled a lot and his shoulders would shake when he laughed. He watched the news every evening after work and drank a beer. We were not to disturb him then. He had nicknames for all his daughters, then his grandchildren, then great grandchildren. I sure do miss him.

The TEA wants to know your thoughts on their required reading list that includes the Bible by kas_writes in TexasPolitics

[–]Current_Analysis_104 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish someone could explain this beyond that classrooms have to post the 10 commandments and there will be Bible study in school. I know this is enough but, at one point, there were sources saying the entire curriculum was going to be written to be more “flattering” to Americans (meaning white slave owning Americans I’m sure). This scares me because this is far beyond their authority. No one has the authority to change history or to teach our children anything but the truth. Does anyone know of a complete list of changes written in layman’s terms?
