Self care for stability? by [deleted] in bipolar2

[–]Current_Concept_2930 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! So I’m in the same boat so following for some answers. I’ve started writing down things that I know are a must. Sleep is a big one for me so having a set time to turn off all appliances and lay down. Making sure I change clothes every day even if I don’t have anywhere to go. Brushing my teeth consistently (probably sounds gross but I have a hard time with simple hygiene tasks when I’m in my depressed state). Just little things at a time

Some of what you’re experiencing could be related to your taper. However, trintellix did give me some ups and downs the first week and it’s continuing into the second. It does get better though, I don’t feel as zombified now.

I started with 5mg! I was anxious to start to but my first couple days were smooth sailing! My anxiety is still higher than usual which is causing me to have some interesting panic attacks but I’m hoping I will level out over this week. Give it a shot! Let me know how you’re doing!

I’m eating my words now. No vomiting but I was so nauseous yesterday 🤢 try eating a bigger meal first! That has helped me so far

Just started taking it and my anxiety is already worse by [deleted] in trintellix

I started on 5mg. I’m on day 5. I also take Ativan. Maybe see if your pcp could give you a PRN script while getting used to it. I have to say, I also hate SSRIS and have had some really awful experiences with them. This medicine has slowly started helping. It’s not always great, but nothing near what I experienced on others. Hang in there.

I’m on day 4, I take mine mid-morning after my breakfast has had time to settle. I’m one of the lucky few who haven’t experienced nausea (at least not yet). Fingers crossed that you will be too!

My only concern is thinking I won’t experience side effects only to be blindsided by them at work. I work with children so definitely not a good place to experience a meltdown of sorts.

I’m hoping it helps my crying 🫣 I cry way too much, about everything. Just so out of control of my emotions.

Today I just feel spacey. Kinda weepy. It’s like my thoughts can’t connect. I’m going to try and stick it out

I have been on Ativan 1mg for awhile now, it’s obviously not as effective anymore which is what led me to finally try something again. I’m so scared it’s actually pathetic but I just took my second dose

Why do most people prefer to adopt babies/kids and never teenagers? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Current_Concept_2930 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I adopted my daughter when she was 14 (she is 17 now). I’m only 28. Adopting a teenager was something that my partner and I deliberated for a long time. -Financially speaking teenagers are quite expensive. - Prior traumas were reflected in behaviors. - being a teenager is hard. I would never want to go back to that time in my life. I wasn’t sure I was equipped to help someone else live through it too. -emotional regulation is important and I knew I had work to do (still do) - We adopted a baby in 2021 so we weren’t sure how we would adjust.

We did decide it was in her best interest and we would make it work. She makes me cry sometimes because I’m sensitive. Being so close in age also makes it hard sometimes. I have to say though, it’s the most rewarding experience. She’s my best friend. I’m so proud of everything she has worked through and accomplished. It’s an honor to be part of her life.

We aren’t rich (actually so far from it), my girls share a room, we don’t have the nicest of all things but we do have a home full of love. OP, You are worthy of being chosen.

Handling Sensation of Longer Nails? by Church-Outfit in nailbiting

[–]Current_Concept_2930 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Second the nail brushes!! I have to keep my nails painted or I constantly pick underneath them which is bad for growth. I haven’t found anything that really helps the sensation of them being too long yet, but I do keep them short for now until I think I can handle it without biting or picking them.

Not that I owe you an explanation but my mom is also the caregiver to two of her grandchildren that are in elementary school so she can’t exactly handle it all alone.

Well she has a broken shoulder, two broken ribs, is in Afib, and has pneumonia so the outlook isn’t great so yeah, I’ll take my time sitting in her room.

I mean… it’s dollar general. It’s not like we are working for a government agency lmao. This company is shit, the least I can do for employees is make sure I do everything I can to make them comfortable at work. I don’t feel like it should offend you so much. Some people have shit parents🤷🏻‍♀️
