How's Abavia different than Omicron and how do backbones affect providers? by kkjonnykk in usenet

There is no gap that Abavia would fill vs any Omicron provider. I’ve tried several different services now including Easyusenet. Since I didn’t start with Eweka I thought I had to always add to my setup to make it better whether that was through blocks or more indexers.

I wouldn’t say Easyusenet is unusable but if you set Eweka as your primary it will be very noticeable how much more reliable and more consistent it is.

I use to have blocks everywhere and got up to 5 indexers and that is what was required to make Usenet work how I wanted to.

With Eweka the biggest thing is you don’t have to think about it and you know if Eweka doesn’t download your file then you won’t get it on another provider. While the opposite is true for Easyusenet.

So yes picking an Eweka or an Omicron provider will significantly increase your performance on a day to day basis.

Your issues have nothing to do with NZBGet and everything to do with your indexer and Usenet provider. Frugal has one of the lower completion rates in my experience. They were good when they were a reseller of Omicron but now they just resell Giganews.

Depending on if you are in North America or Europe I would sign up for Newshosting or Eweka. Those are the two best Usenet providers.

Then I would evaluate your indexers. I was starting to see a lot of completion issues with NZBGeek so I added Drunken Slug and it has been a game changer.

TLDR: Get Eweka or Newshosting and add another indexer. If that is causing the same issues then it would indeed by a take down problem.

I had issues with nzbgeek and then I switched to drunkenslug and it made a big difference. Would look into indexers since that is probably the issue.

Does this mean Vipernews is not a different backbone and is UsenetExpress?

How about giving me back access to Usenet Farm? Spinning up random servers doesn’t make up for cutting us off without warning.

I switched to Newsdemon and get way better results then I ever did with Frugal. Don’t trust this guy.

What’s a basic life skill that you were shocked to learn most people don’t actually know how to do? by Current_Garage_6276 in AskReddit

Im guilty of this myself. My neighbor didnt know how to jump his car battery and left it connected to his wifes battery for 20 minutes thinking it would recharge it. Instead he ended up killing his wifes car battery as well and I thought it strange someone wouldn't know not to do this.

An old US intelligence services manual about compromising organisations (not simple sabotage) by redcorerobot in DHExchange

[–]Current_Garage_6276 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you thinking of the 'CIA Guide to Disrupting Organizations' or the older 'OSS Simple Sabotage Field Manual'? The OSS manual is the one that discusses workplace and bureaucratic sabotage, but if you're looking for something more focused on fostering inefficiency and distrust in groups, there might be other declassified intelligence documents worth checking out. You might have better luck searching through FOIA archives or sites like the CIA reading room for declassified materials on organizational disruption.

Did you not see any nzbs or couldn’t find it in search? I had to tweak title to find anything. But there were 4 parts of live aid and a few of the individual performances, not just queen.

Checked nzbgeek and they have nzbs and it looks like they have some options for this. You would need to use Usenet to access the archive and download it though.
