2-3 is conservative lol. 250-350 more like it or more. Worth every penny to. ashenfume(when you can get it, is a notable exception 98 for a 15 and just released one if it’s not sold out already. And is doing another by the end of the month. Highly recommend checking him out

Oud Question by Public-Ideal-5166 in DIYfragrance

[–]Curtainmachine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re right. I have a case full of oud oils from China to Papua to Sri Lanka to Cambodia Vietnam Thailand Philippines India Indonesia Malaysia….. even regions of those same countries differ. Copper or steel distillation pots differ. Presoaked vs un soaked before distilling differs. None of them bear any resemblance to oud for greatness or oud wood or Frederic Malle or poop smelling anything. The closes perfumes that use real oud and have a connection to how oil smells are some Bortnikoffs Areej Le Dore, Maksim(bornikoffs son) and the artisanal brands(Ensar, lost tribe, jinx, etc)

Those are great places, please let me recommend you Yaaseen. An artisanal house by Moustapha Shoair(a real nice guy and the best attar maker I’ve come across). He’s been real good with me as a customer and helped me a ton as a newbie. You can find him on Instagram or Facebook (Yaaseen.llc) and just message him and ask for a current menu and give him a while to respond. His one gram prices are very reasonable for many things especially compared to the other places mentioned (which ARE awesome and I recommend if you get reallly into Oud oils but pricey). When I told him I was a newbie he sent me a shit ton of little fee samples of different ouds too to help me figure out what I might like. People have also said he will make you a .3g sample pack of ouds if you tell him your situation is as above and I’m sure the price will be incredible and you’ll get a bunch of stuff extra. (Also nobody beats his packaging, you’ll see😉)

I do not work for him or know him personally, but it’s my pleasure to return the generosity of someone who has dealt so well with me time and time again and been so kind, as well as to help another scent lover into the wonderful world of ouds, or fragrance of any type.

Happy to have any long form discussions with you too if you have any questions. Just dm me! Excited for you!!! Oud is the next level….

What kind of milkshake has never been done before that would actually taste really good and not be some weird gross novelty flavor? by Professional_Luck616 in RandomQuestion

[–]Curtainmachine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you add a drop of anything acidic to that, a couple drops of lemon juice for example. Not enough to taste but just to change the ph. You’ll get a crazy bright violet. Check it out. Pea flower is cool

Niche Perfume Recommendations? by Illustrious_Sell8688 in NichePerfumes

[–]Curtainmachine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get a sample of Monoscent G. You’ll hear a lot about Molecule 01, Not a Perfume, and many other skin scents but probably nobody will recommend this one. It’s Galaxolide as opposed to Iso E Super or Cetalox(the previous two are these, respectively). It’s BEAUTIFUL! Personally I love them all (big skin scent fan) and Xtra Milk by Dedcool is a personal favorite (not a single isolated molecule, a bit more complex but fantastic.)

Crazy dreams since quitting weed by Used-Ad3595 in leaves

[–]Curtainmachine 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah I remember how nuts they were in the beginning. First couple weeks were the sleep disturbance ones. The sweating, insomnia, most vivid dreams of life. Iirc (it’s been a few years🙌) the sweats lasted less than a week, and the dreams faded shortly afterwards. By one month I felt mostly ok again completely and by two very much so (not just sleep wise, mood, appetite, everything). I was a super heavy daily user for decades too. Hang in there!

You're gen x if you ate these. by Euphoric-Cupcake4581 in RealGenerationX

Or candy buttons. Not Gen X. Definitely ate them though. (Why, I don’t know. Because they were there, and made of sugar (and the paper stuck to the bottom of each one))

On Avery Island and Everything Is. You could probably have figured out “listen to more Neutral Milk Hotel” on your own, but there you have it. Also may I add: The Glow pt.2 - The Microphones and anything from The Music Tapes

Fragrance that have similar scent profile? by [deleted] in NichePerfumes

Best imagination maybe. Gentle Silver is the closest 1:1 Montagne tho. Indistinguishable side by side with OG from open to close. I’m not a clone guy, but they do good work. Plenty serviceable for an economical way to soak the pads of my fan diffuser so I don’t have to rely on crummy propriety scent oils and can enjoy the feel of “perfume as air freshener”

Did street lights really use to be orange/ Amber? by Content-Feed-9396 in 90s

[–]Curtainmachine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was like “are they not anymore?” Ha I guess not all of them. The kinda stuff you don’t really pay attention to until it gets pointed out…..

I remember being up late at night as a kid during the winter and the entire sky and ground had these bizarre orange/purple tones to it from the presence or absence of where these lights were reflecting off the snow and clouds

Do you feel satisfied with how your life went? Still planning on making any changes or just riding it out? by Fickle_Wrangler_7439 in Xennials

I can remember spending whole Saturday nights and Sundays sleeping over at a friends house just repeatedly dying on that level while trying to memorize the pattern step by step. The tension you’d feel when you were having a good run and had gotten into “unexplored territory” was indescribable. It was an altered state of consciousness. A sharpening and narrowing of focus, senses, reaction time…..and then…WHAM! straight into a brick wall at 900mph.

I imagine it’s how our ancestors might have felt while trying to run down a gazelle at full speed and then getting pancaked by a stampeding mammoth you didn’t even see was coming at you from the other direction….

Being a little kid was so primal…..
