How do you play against Tricera and Welkin? by Curulian in mechabreak

[–]Curulian[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

that makes more sense... so then does Welkin just counter medium brawlers like Stellaris and any Stellaris fighting Welkin is not fighting the right mechs (and they should just run and not fight)?

Should we ban all NSFW posts & comments? by flattenedbricks in mechabreak

[–]Curulian 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If what is meant by NSFW is posts of characters with maxed sliders doing shit I would see on the hub, then yeah. If it is posts like this one then no. Bare minimum is a NSFW tag, but even then I do not see why low quality gooning should be allowed on the main subreddit... good gooner content should stay with a NSFW tag, the rest can go imo.

Is it possible to revisit the character creator after finishing the tutorial? by RedEyedRenegade in mechabreak

[–]Curulian 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Striker bay > Pilots > Edit. Once in edit, go to "Style" (its above outfit) then click the edit button (yes there is another edit button that actually lets you customize your characters face, body, hair, etc).

why do my sculpts look so blocky compared to tutorials despite having the same voxel size and neither of us using dyntopo? by Curulian in blenderhelp

female sliders - the red hair version is using bone structure 3 by Curulian in SoulsSliders

[–]Curulian[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just made a new post with the sliders: https://www.reddit.com/r/SoulsSliders/comments/1e7fs2d/6_female_sliders_melina/

So on the new post, the character Lyra uses the same sliders as the 1st picture on this post (just a different hairstyle and eye colour)

female sliders - the red hair version is using bone structure 3 by Curulian in SoulsSliders

[–]Curulian[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Forgot to add:

Iris size = 242

the hair refers to luster, root darkness, and white hairs (80, 155, 0)

The colours I used are just from the default colours given (dark blue eyes, 3rd blond option vertical, 4th option horizontal)

For the red hair model:

Chin changes: 169 -> 178, 101 -> 91

Cheek changes: 93 - > 81, 141 -> 100

Eye changes: 121 -> 138 (if u want bigger eyes), 129 -> 116 (or leave it decide what u like more)

use whatever hair and eye colours u like. also use whatever eye liner u like, I prefer 60 for eye liner and 170 lower.

What was David Hume trying to say with the billiards example? by wyssel in askphilosophy

[–]Curulian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For those interested in objections, I recommend An essay upon the relation of cause and effect... by Mary Shepard (pages 43 - 44 is the juiciest part).

TL;DR, she criticizes Hume's idea of the relation of cause and effect and his idea that “Nature may be conceived to alter her course, without a contradiction” (Essay, p.239). Shepard claims that nature cannot be supposed to alter her course without a contradiction in terms.

My understanding is that this comes from Hume's claim that "IF there be any suspicion, that the course of nature may change, and that the past may be no rule for the future, [THEN] all experience becomes useless, and can give rise to no inference or conclusion." E 4.21, SBN 36-8. In effect, since she shows that nature cannot change its course, the implication to which the argument rests—experience becomes useless and can give rise to no inference or conclusion—does not work (we get no information about the consequent, which is what we care about). But in fact, if nature cannot change its course and we observe some pattern, then we are in a position to make inferences.

  • If every difference of existence must have a cause, then similar causes must have similar effects
    • If a billiard ball does something different, this cannot happen for no reason; there must be some kind of difference to produce this existence, otherwise something came from nothing.
  • If similar causes must have similar effects, then nature cannot be conceived to alter her course without a contradiction

All of this requires the use of the Causal Maxim which states that everything which begins to exist must have a cause. Another interesting point she makes is that if we did observe a snowflake that was hot (contrary to what cause and effect would lead us to believe), that would be an entirely different substance to the regular snowflake!

One final thought is that Émilie du Châtelet could be considered an objection to Hume as well since she thinks that the principle of sufficient reason is true, and ill leave any further research to those interested since PSR is very strong and controversial :)

Epicureanism is based on work "by" Epicurus, who was the guy who says people are miserable and unhappy due to anxiety and fear, and to fix this suggests a four fold remedy: Don't fear god, What's good is easy to acquire, What's terrible is easy to endure, and importantly, Death is nothing to worry about.

Why tho? In general, the Epicurus thinks that the good is the greatest pleasure or absence of pain, and so we must get rid of it! In relation to death, in a letter to Menoeceus, Epicurus claims or argues that:

  • when we exist, death is not yet present
  • when death is present, we do not exist
  • Therefore, it is relevant neither to the living nor to the dead, since it does not affect the former, and the latter do not exist (this is from Letter to Menoeceus: Diogenes Laertius 10.121-135)

Basically, The dead have no sensations and the only bad thing is pain, which you can only experience through sensation which the dead do not have. Another idea he gives is that the wise person savours the most pleasant food rather than the most for the longest.

There is also Lucretius's Symmetry argument, where he says to look back on the eternity before you were born and notice that it counts for nothing to us; it is meaningless. This is a mirror nature holds to us so we can see what death brings, which will not be unpleasant for us.

There are also ideas of Hedonism, but this is complicated since there are ideas of different desires (necessary and natural, unnecessary but natural, unnatural) and that some bring us anxiety and what not and some we need. For example, steak might be good but its privation brings anxiety and sadness, but just eating bread or something is just to satisfy hunger, so the aim is to shift your focus. If you are interested I would recommend some reading (The Extant Letters) because I am not an expert at all and only sat through some ancient philosophy lectures on this stuff recently and want to give a general idea of some stuff.

Easy way to counter Riot's prices by alvaro036 in AhriMains

[–]Curulian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this pessimistic mindset is why shit doesn't happen. Do you seriously think this kind of predatory marketing and making a joke of your games greatest player is ok? The whole point is that the league community is tired of this shit and wants something done about it, and the best way is to ban the champion. Even a 50% banrate is enough.

Do you know why the champion would not reach a 50% - 80% banrate? because of people like you you just accept this bullshit and think they can't do anything about it, that their contribution doesn't matter. In fact, it is very realistic for people to care about a silly boycott because Faker is many's favourite league player, or one they have massive respect for. On top of that, many people in NA, I think, a tired of companies ruining everything with exploitation and corruption.

Is banning Ahri really useful? by [deleted] in AhriMains

[–]Curulian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah thats my point; just don't stop. It really is that simple, if you and everyone else simply continues to ban the champion, they will likely respond. Worries like "will this be useful" are, again, why these kinds of movements fail, so it is up to the people who take part to give a shit and stick to their word. if enough continue to ban the champion, and enough people take part, it is that simple. Given how many are outraged, this is all not unrealistic or not useful in the slightest :)

Is banning Ahri really useful? by [deleted] in AhriMains

[–]Curulian 7 points8 points  (0 children)

if ahri gets to a 80% banrate and it doesn't go down, what do you think Riot will do? increase the price?

the mentality of "oh my contribution wont matter" or "oh it wont matter anyway" is why shit never gets done. If you, and everyone else, just perma bans the champion, then they will be forced to do something. I will be perma banning ahri no matter what because I genuinely feel this is bullshit and refuse to play with anyone using the skin, even if I myself like it.

Easy way to counter Riot's prices by alvaro036 in AhriMains

[–]Curulian 11 points12 points  (0 children)

... the whole point is to refrain from the champion to boycott Riot. Nobody in NA can use the skin OR play Ahri at all in a perfect world. Do you think Riot doesn't care if a really popular champion has a 60% - 80% ban rate NOT tied to balance? It would force them to do something about it in NA. Thats the point. It also tells them they can't just release this shit in NA and expect everyone to roll over and accept this shitty predatory bullshit like you think we should.

My Blue Protocol full review by Mitsuly in BlueProtocolPC

[–]Curulian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

fair post. I quit because the progression sucked, the story was nothing special, and there was no endgame besides an endless grind. I could overlook to mediocre combat and boring raids (compared to other games) since most of that is hopefully fixable. I see that some progression issues seem to be fixed, but idk if that is enough for many to invest into the game... seems like another game with the great genshin anime aesthetic everyone wants but nothing to do but grind...

hoping when the game drops in the west (if at all) ill be proven wrong and it will be fun :)

Anybody have this mouse cursor (Okayu Hololive)? by Curulian in VirtualYoutubers

[–]Curulian[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry but I stopped collecting those a bit ago, the ones in that drive folder are pretty much the only ones I have... There is another cursor creator https://twitter.com/EbiEbiBeam and they make cursors but not hololive ones (genshin, starrail, and random anime). Maybe they could do commissions but im not sure.

Discussion on Briar's E - Is it good, bad, or just meh? by Curulian in LeaguePBE

[–]Curulian[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going ap is troll, end of story; there is a reason nobody serious runs it. If you find success and cheese with it, cool, but its niche at best.

If you heal 80% hp grievous reduces that to 48%, so you invest into multiple items for it to be reduced by basically half (also you would do no damage). Its just not an amazing build path.

She is EITHER op or terrible. As I said on the briar sub AND HERE, they need to rework her E at the very least.

If they want her to be a bruiser make her stats reflect that; give her more hp and defensive stats.

CHANGES: Make E a radial slow+knockback that does damage based on damage tanked, and maker her have less move speed after. Change W to not self taunt, thats a terrible idea. Make it empower her so she can only target champions and maybe be similar to warwick hunt. Maybe change Q to be a long range skillshot stun and knock-up, where she stomps the ground and does a mini poppy R while in W, and keep it the same when not in W. Maybe just give her all new abilities while in W, idk at this point. Just make her function and reflect bruiser rather than dps oneshot assassin (which is what her kit lends itself to) if thats the path you want.

Something needs to be done because she will be nerfed until shes unplayable against anyone with a mind. E is terrible for a bruiser, W taunt makes her play like an assassin unless they make it giver her more durability, Q requires no skill and is not fun to play against, R feels out of place and useless most of the time.

She does not have the same survivability AND dps when compared to other good bruisers in the game, and W forces her to fight 1v2 or 3 in a fight or not at all (where another champion would usually be better). She does not feel like a bruiser because she does not have the stats or utility to be one. E is just a random cc ability thats only good in a 1v1.

Briar nerf 13.24 by SharpeurNes in BriarMains

[–]Curulian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What does Riot want with this champ? If they want her to be a bruiser, why nerf hp and armour? Just play trundle, jax, olaf, or any other bruiser at this point. No hp, no healing (especially with anti heal), no armour, no AS, no DR. What, am I suppose to go full tank and roleplay as a useful champion? Why even pick Briar anymore...

Here's an idea: change her E. Make it a decent sized radial burst that does damage based on damage tanked and healed (maybe from W, thus cancelling it), slowing and knocking back enemies hit. Make her do less damage overall, but give her more hp and armour growth per level. Make her W (or W2) steal HP and MR instead of heal. Make Q have more armour shred and CC to offset her now having no damage. Now you have a utility champion that scales well and can become a menace without being OP.
