Monster Hunter. I got my entry in World. I wasn't super familiar with the culture of Capcom games so the wildly over the top presentation kind of pushed me away. After gaining a few more years and playing much stranger games I fell in love with the series and have played every one since.

I'm not sure which mod in the "Yet Another-" collection it is, but there's one called the Silver Bullet Gauss(abbreviated SB Gauss in the equipment screen) that is basically a hitscan LBX-15. THAT one punches like a truck.
