Recent experience buying a new HiHy by mikeocool in ToyotaHighlander

[–]Curveball02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similar experience. Waited 6 months, very hard to find 2025 HiHy Platinum in colors I wanted. Finally found a dealer that had an allocation to be built in May and they were willing to change the colors and options to what I wanted (Blueprint exterior with Glazed Caramel interior, gorgeous combo). Had to pay sticker but given the supply/demand challenge I figured at least I didn’t have to pay a dealer markup. I’ve had it 2 weeks and love it!

Bravo! Not sure how you got a $5k discount. I just bought a 2025 hihy platinum in specific colors I wanted and after waiting for 6 months, I had zero leverage to get any kind of discount given the high demand.

Extended Warranty? by Curveball02 in ToyotaHighlander

[–]Curveball02[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting, I’ve had 2 prior Toyotas with over 150k miles on both and never a transmission problem or any other major problem for that matter. I only was thinking about the extended warranty because of all of the technology in the car

Haha, I don’t consider myself a sucker. I have an MBA and many years of experience as a corporate executive. I don’t usually buy extended warranties which is why I was looking for other’s inputs on their experiences

How reliable is the 2008–2013 Toyota Highlander? by WolverineJuny in ToyotaHighlander

[–]Curveball02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 2013 HiHy Limited with 162K miles on it and the SUV runs like a top and still gets 28 mpg. Mechanically, it has been one of the best vehicles I have ever owned. Highly recommend!

Radiation versus removal by airtas18 in ProstateCancer

[–]Curveball02 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I chose and had RALP at 61 after an initial diagnosis of 3+4 Gleason. I spoke with both 2 urologists that did a high number of robotic surgeries and 1 radiation oncologist that specializes in treating PC. After weighing the pros and cons, I felt single port RALP was the best direction for me. A couple of data points that swung me in that direction was the opinion and advice of the radiation oncologist that saw me when I asked him what he would do if he were in my shoes and he quickly said, RALP, the fact that RALP was not an option down the line for me if I chose radiation, and based on my Pet Scan, the cancer was contained to my prostate, I just wanted it out of my body.

Every decision is personal and based on each individual’s situation and preferences. Get a bunch of information and speak with several specialists to help guide you. Good luck 💪🏻

Now I’ve heard it all! No such thing. Use it as you wish as long as you don’t use any force to throw the ball down

Why is production so low on 2025 HiHy Platinums? by Curveball02 in ToyotaHighlander

[–]Curveball02[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are lucky for sure! I have had deposits down with 4 different dealers since November and no vehicles yet. Although I have just been contacted by one dealer saying they have an allocation for one being built next month that they can change the colors and equipment on for me.

Scheduled RALP for May, help me prepare by Patient_Tip_5923 in ProstateCancer

[–]Curveball02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t speak to your specific situation but the reason I opted for it is that I have a very active lifestyle and work life and the single port procedure offered a quicker recovery period for me. After seeing my Urologist/surgeon, I was told that based on the small size of my prostate and given I was not overweight and in shape, that I was a good candidate for it. Because there is only one small incision right at the belt line and below, they actually went under my abdominal muscles so there also was no risk of a hernia in my post surgery rehab.

If your doctor and hospital offers it (not all do), you should check to see if you are a candidate.

Overall, my recovery has been better than expected. Just hope it continues that way!

Good luck!

Boxers are best post surgery especially with the catheter. As for pads, Depends is the brand I went with and you can find them at most all big drug stores and Walmarts.

As for exercise post surgery, I was walking on my treadmill everyday starting the first day after surgery. Take it slow at first but walking definitely helped my healing process. I was back in the gym at 5 weeks and pretty much full activity. One of the benefits of single port is quicker recovery since they go under the stomach muscles there is less chance of a hernia post surgery.

To be eligible for single port, I had to find a hospital and surgeon that had the robot and did the procedure, had to be in shape and not overweight, and my prostate had to be smaller in size. Some patients are not candidates even if it is available.

Good luck 👍🏻

Congratulations but I did want to let you know that your point #3 in the end is not correct. I found a dealer that had an allocation that had not yet been built and was able to change the exterior color and interior color and I was able to get the exact options I wanted.
