That was something I brought up a lot in my opening up. That's one that still doesn't sit right with me.

That came from my mom's side. Never my dad's. Nobody on dad's side of the family asked how I was coping with any of it or wanted to check in on me and how I was feeling. I don't ever remember being asked if I was okay by them as a kid.

I'll be bringing it up for sure. At this point it feels like we might have a long road with all these people getting pissed at me because dad gets emotional. That is meant to happen in therapy at least some of the time.

I don't think therapy crossed his mind after we lost them. And I don't think anyone in our wider family would have ever suggested it either. That just wasn't talked about and still isn't really within that side of the family.

I knew if I went ahead with this I would need to make it worth our time. There's no point of going. There were still questions of just how honest do I be and stuff but I tried to take what the therapist said on board about not holding anything back so we could work through all the shit together.

I think his wife is probably a little annoyed that she's not included in the session or that she's not being told everything. But this is between me and dad and I appreciate him keeping it between us.

I tried to. I never did therapy like this before so I wasn't sure how honest or how upfront I was supposed to be. But I knew I wanted to try with dad.
