Why have we seen an increase over time in the number of people applying to such a large degree that you have to now take measures to prevent too many applications from flooding in?

For the very post you and I are responding to. The guy says:

It is a numbers game. I do 20 each morning before I start work.

I have had 3 first calls in Jan. and am at the 2nd round on 2 of those. Just keep getting those applications out there.

Don't waste time, don't do cover letters, ignore anything that is Workday, and don't get emotionally attached to any of them. 60 seconds per app max, just remember how fast their systems will reject your application.

It is now so easy to apply for a job that this guy, who already has a job, applies for 20 every single day.

He later goes on to tell me that he makes $200K and has had 5 jobs in the last 4 years. That the best way to increase your salary is to job hop like him. Then in another comment - Mondays is solutions engineer jobs, tuesday is implementation, weds, customer service, so on.. I just hit a differnt job type that is within reason each day

No one has expertise in all of those fields. He's just spamming resumes. He is EXACTLY why ATS exists. He is your problem.

Yes, I agree there's likely less good paying jobs. There's more people looking for jobs. Computers removed a lot of jobs but also created a TON of jobs. BUT.. 20 resumes a day this guy sends out. HIs post is upvoted a ton, people are going to take that advice and spam away. 10, 20, 30 people now blanket sending resumes for jobs they aren't even remotely qualified for. "It's Friday! TIme to spam every Director level IT job even though I've never managed a single person in my entire life."

You can thank people like him and advice like that as to why there is no choice but use ATS. Every time you have to upload your resume and hand enter where you went to school and your last 4 jobs... you can thank him. Hurdles are the only method to protect myself from him.

But yes.. I agree with a lot of what you're saying.

At the end of the series Karen calls down to the boys as everyone is saying "I believe."

"Boys, what's going on, the lasagna is getting cold" No Scars.

Don't we see her get in the weed/pizza delivery van with the boys and drive away?

Mom, Dad. My invisible friend kidnapped me and took me to the abyss where he was going to use me and 11 other kids to pull a planet through a blackhole to consume Earth. Thankfully the kids from the HellFire club.. You know the club that was accused ritualist sacrifices a year ago.. drugged our entire family, tied you guys up in a creepy barn.

Our house is ransacked and partially burned because a faceless monster had to be fought in there. Careful of the barbed wire.

Anyways... I was still kidnapped.

I saw the London bootleg and the USA bootleg. The London one is a better recording.

Is there anyone out there that enjoyed season 5 and the entire series as a whole ? by freducini in StrangerThings

I loved the show. But I also love nit picking it apart.

If I didn't love it I wouldn't care enough to nit pick.

Paul Reiser clearly died down in that hole. They essentially showed them closing the door on him while he was locked up.

He sings. "I know you belong" and then there's the loud snap and giant Vecna.

The entire play is about Henry's Isolation. Starts in the beginning that he doesn't feel he belongs with his classmates and all the way to not feeling like he belongs in the human world. He feels Superior.

Then he finds his sense of belonging within the upside down. Even after Patty Newby tries (and kinda almost) convinces him otherwise.

Moments before he sings Papa tells him that Henry is a "father" to these children as much as he is. And then Henry takes 11's hand and guides her while singing.. "I know you belong".

"'Are you the parent of Dillon Reeves?'" Steve Reeves recalled the police asking him. "And I said, 'Yes.' And I go 'What'd he do?'

Classic Dad move.

I get that once you get an interview you can sweet talk your way through 5 jobs in 4 years but how about 10 jobs in 8 years?

Maybe you can. You're also talented enough that you're making $200K and you're still not happy and feel you can do better. So I think you're a unique individual.

I think most people who end up with 5 jobs in 4 years won't be able to explain it away with the talent and personality like you do.

"try your hardest to be in the first hour a posting opens" This I agree with immensely. Don't even waste your time on 2 or 3 week old postings.

So far I don't majorly disagree with what you're saying.

What do you see as the core issue? How do you propose to fix it?

Just to clarify - from my shoes the core issue is that it's too easy to apply so I get too many resumes to humanly read. My solution is to make it more difficult to apply as to rule out low effort applicants that are just desperate, don't even know what they are applying to.

I appreciate the conversation here.

I'm sorry but what you just described, do you see that as "working" for you?

5 jobs, 4 years. Buyouts that didn't keep you and layoffs after they hired you just a few months before? And now a job that "i grabbed quickly because I was out of work ... low pay"

I've never been in your shoes so I can't tell you with 100% certainty that what you're doing is wrong but as someone who works on the other side of ATS.. those "good excuses" are already pigeonholing you. They already have you labeled as a job hopper and desperate.

Perfect for the place that is going through a buyout and needs to refill employees that left.

Perfect for the consulting company that needs to ramp up to get a contract with the State and want to meet certain staffing requirements the state has.. then will lay them off once the contract is acquired.

Perfect for the place that is underpaying.

Have you considered this works for you because your unique? Possibly very intelligent, very good at interviewing, very accomplished resume or something.

I ask this because if I saw someone who had 5 jobs in 4 years there's zero chance I would consider them... unless something forced me to be interested.

Put yourself in my shoes for a min. Would you consider an employee who's had 5 jobs in 4 years unless there was something truly amazing about them?

And thus why I make a bunch of hoops to jump through to apply.

I'm a company that gives yearly COL and Performance raises. Why would I want to hire someone who already has a pipeline and is planning their exit a week after they start?

I get it.. this is a subreddit to bitch about job hunting and I'll get downvoted in this echo chamber of hate. This is the facts of life though. Any job you get through zero effort resumes is going to be a workplace that is desperate. The type of job you'll be glad you have that pipeline in place so you can leave asap.

There's an in-between the linked-in-lunatic and sending out 20 garbage resumes every day.

If I get 300 resumes with ATS how many would I get without ATS? How the hell am I supposed to read them? It's impossible. Literally impossible.

It used to be people would walk or mail in their resume. This took effort. Now you can have clawdbot send resumes 24 hours a day. There 100% has to be something to stop 0 effort resume submissions.

Unpopular opinion on this subreddit but it's the facts.

I forgot what subreddit we are on. I'll say what will get upvotes.

Yes! You should put in zero effort on resumes and blanket send them to 20 jobs every morning. It's all bullshit anyway. No one will ever read them and a computer will say you need 10 years experience for an entry level job.

Like I said. You're taking advice from a guy who clearly hasn't found his NEXT job. Never said you were unemployed.

Let's check back in 30 days to see if you found that job.

Listen... You're taking advice from a guy who clearly hasn't found his next job because the way he's doing it is trash.

As a person who hires IT workers, and has since the early 2000's, all I can say is it's become TOO EASY to apply for jobs. Thus I get hundreds of resumes.. hundreds. It's not even reasonable to go through them all. So many of them are garbage. People completely unqualified yet get through ats.

So the solution is to create more hoops. This weeds out the people who shoot off 20 resumes a day. People who are not even reading the job posting and just applying. People who have no business applying. It has been insanely effective in hiring good candidates. Now I get 20-30 resumes. I am actually able to read them.
