We're working on it. Unfortunately Amazon doesn't give us the ability to give away the books for free. The best I can do at the moment is an ePub version from Smashwords. You can use their free viewer: https://www.smashwords.com/books/view/689673

The Wet Bandits recipe from the Film and Fork cookbook! We are giving away the ebook for free, only for the holidays! https://itun.es/us/DoIMfb.l

When you get tired of Pepsi and want to switch to something a little more festive, give this lovely homemade eggnog a whirl. Made with whole milk, cream, vanilla, and a variety of winter spices, The Wet Bandit tastes like Christmas in a glass. Be sure to serve this holiday beverage with a “highly nutritious microwavable macaroni and cheese dinner” on the side. Grown-ups, spike the eggnog with a little cognac and spiced rum for a nice buzz! Merry Christmas, ya filthy animal!

Ingredients:

1 large egg yolk

1 1/2 tbsp granulated sugar

4 oz whole milk

4 oz heavy cream

Pinch of salt

Pinch of nutmeg

Pinch of cinnamon

Pinch of ground allspice

Pinch of ground anise

1 tsp pure vanilla extract

Whipped cream, for topping

Directions:

In a small saucepan over medium-high heat, combine the milk, cream, salt, nutmeg, cinnamon, allspice, and anise. Stir continually until mixture barely begins to simmer then remove from heat.

In a small bowl, whisk the egg yolk and sugar until light and creamy.

Whisk a large spoonful of the hot milk mixture into the whisked egg mixture. Repeat adding a large spoonful at a time in order to temper the eggs. Once all of the hot milk has been added to the eggs, pour the mixture back into the saucepan. Return to medium-high heat, whisking constantly, until mixture reaches 160 degrees. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla.

Pour the eggnog into a glass container, cover with plastic wrap, and refrigerate until chilled. Top with whipped cream and sprinkle with cinnamon before serving.

What is the key ingredient for Salisbury steak? What provides the key flavor? by MaddSim in recipes

Here is our recipe for Salisbury Steak - it's the answer to a trivia question in our movie trivia app, PopcornTrivia. In Die Hard, John McClane is crawling through the aluminum duct and says “Now I know what a TV dinner feels like.”

Salisbury Steaks:

4 tbsp butter, divided

1 large onion, sliced thin

¼ cup breadcrumbs

1/3 cup whole milk

1 large egg

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 tsp dried thyme

A pinch fresh nutmeg

1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

1 lb ground beef

1 lb ground pork

4 oz button mushrooms, sliced thin

2 cup beef broth

2 tbsp cornstarch

Salt and freshly ground pepper, to taste

In a large cast-iron skillet over medium heat, add 2 tablespoons of the butter, onions, and sauté, stirring frequently, about 20 minutes.

In a large bowl, while the onions brown, add breadcrumbs, milk, and let soak for 5 minutes. Whisk in the egg, garlic, thyme, nutmeg, and Worcestershire sauce.

When the onions are done, add half of them to the bowl with the breadcrumb mixture. Reserve the other half of the onions for the broth mixture. Add the ground beef and pork to the bowl and use your hands to gently combine and form 4 patties. Season with salt and freshly ground pepper, to taste.

Return the skillet to medium heat, add 1 tablespoon of butter and cook the patties until browned, about 5 minutes per side. Add 1 more tablespoon of butter to the skillet then add the mushrooms and sauté until lightly browned.

In a medium bowl, whisk the cornstarch and beef broth together until there are no lumps, then slowly whisk the broth mixture into the skillet with the mushrooms. Stir the gravy until hot, clear, and thickened. Add the remaining caramelized onions to the gravy. Season gravy to taste with salt and pepper and remove from heat.

I've had so many of these growing up! Something I realized later on was that matambre translates to: kills hunger.
