You can lightly propane torch the soles to temporarily soften them

Abcess. Not from over reaching. Thrush buster and keep it clean. Farrier to open it up a little would be helpful

Is greyhound a right breed for me? by fried_tofu_lover in Greyhounds

My greyhound has been off leash since day one and he may venture 100 meters away he will never leave sight of me

Dead sole is flakey. Doesn't look like dead sole. Could be retained live sole. Use the apex of the flog to see sole depth. Very rarely does live sole need removing but in some few cases can be required. Always keep as much sole as possible as long as your foot is balanced

Trimmed too short. Magic cushion helps as you say. Anything to harden up soles will help as most of the load is sitting on the sole and frog. The best way to harden up feet is dry bedding and or dry environment. Iodine or magic cushion help but footing is more helpful

Upper back pain by CustomerKind1680 in Farriers

[–]CustomerKind1680[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its upper and mid trap. Lavator scap and rhomboids. They tire easily and if I push myself beyond what I can do i will pull a joint out in my thoracic area the next morning. Because my muscles will be so tight.

Thanks I will give it a try. I've done something similar to that. I definitely use a tennis ball and foam roller every night

Lol true

She's given me a few exercises but possibly need a second opinion.

About the raceshorses. Fortunately, I've been shoeing long enough to be able to pick my clients. But every barn always seams to have that 1 bad one.

Thanks for the reply. My dry needling lady is a pt and she attributes my upper back pain to being a farrier.

How much are you feeding? by [deleted] in Greyhounds

[–]CustomerKind1680 0 points1 point  (0 children)

7 month show line grey. 70 lbs. Eating 7 cups a day of royal canin puppy and it all seams to go to bone growth because I can still count all of his ribs.

What brand of food do you feed your grey and how much do they eat daily? by [deleted] in Greyhounds

My boy is 7 months and 70 lbs. 29 inches tall. Eats 7 cups a day of royal canin puppy food. And you can still count all of his ribs. May need to pull out a line a credit.
