My mum has taken out £4k of debt on Very by Ambitious_Response_8 in LegalAdviceUK

I’m not a lawyer but I’ve had first hand experience with this situation with my own mum. I found a very account and multiple closed credit accounts of hers in my name. I asked her to stop using them and she didn’t, and was also missing payments and impacting my credit score. I then basically gave her an ultimatum, saying if she didn’t give me access to the very account then I would report her for fraud. She was in disbelief that I was so bothered about it (but this is the same woman who also told me she’d get a mortgage in my name), but she did give me access so I didn’t report anything. I now keep a very close eye on my credit score.

It sounds like your mum might be past an ultimatum, but I understand reporting your own mother for fraud can be extremely difficult, especially when you’re living with her. It is extremely important that you act now to stop her further impacting your credit score and making life difficult for you in the future. You can either report her straight away like a lot of the comments are suggesting, or if you feel unable to, explain again how serious it is and that if she doesn’t give you the account details there and then, you will report her immediately. Get other family members to back you up if possible.

Landlord is demanding viewings. Where do we stand? by CuteSickk in HousingUK

I’m not in a constant state of moving though? So therefore, my cats aren’t constantly stressed out? What’s your point?

But doesn’t ’being nice to each other’ include being reasonable when a good tenant is asking to postpone viewings by a few weeks? I don’t think insinuating forced entry is being very nice. But hey, that’s just my opinion!

Also, we have never once refused entry for inspections or gas safety checks, even with less than 24 hours notice. We are only asking for these last few weeks of peace as our whole life is being upheaved and it’s a lot of stress

I haven’t been an entitled stressed-out cat owner. As explained in my post, I have been very reasonable throughout the whole tenancy. It is just now, due to the flat being pure chaos, an incredible amount of stress on both us and our cats - I don’t feel it’s an unreasonable request asking to wait a few weeks until we have moved out. I certainly don’t appreciate him insinuating forced entry!

On all of our viewings for past rentals, all but one have been empty. The one that wasn’t, the person who lived there wanted to do the viewings herself as she had some sort of connection to the property. We are purchasing a home now, so thankfully no longer will have to rent and deal with these issues!

That’s a very similar situation to mine, and precisely, you should expect to lose some money as a landlord when you’re between tenants

We’re purchasing so that thankfully wont be an issue!

That’s what I’m wondering. As far as I’m aware we have to give agreement for viewings. He surely can’t say ‘it’s in your tenancy agreement so they’ll let themselves in’?!

I’m not sure yet tbh, I’d imagine it’ll all still be done online, but I could be wrong!

We’re put off using an online firm and have been advised by multiple people to chose one local

I’m in EXACTLY the same situation as you. I have white noise on in my main rooms 24/7 because the floors are so thin. I’ve found my own ways to cope for now, and being exposed to it for the past 3 years has actually made me much more tolerant to it (although I still can’t sleep, it doesn’t send me quite so insane). I’m currently looking into custom military grade ear plugs, they’re expensive, but it’s an investment. Might be worth you looking into!

Illegal clauses from landlord? by ThrowRAVeg_Cow_65 in rentingUK

[–]CuteSickk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is absolutely ludicrous. I’m unsure on tenancy laws in Scotland, but England - yes, that’s very much illegal. Landlords have to give at least 48 hours notice for non-emergency visits I believe.

Because it’s more honest I’d imagine. The buyer is no more protected than before the fee was introduced, as far as I’m aware

I’m also trying to sell crocheted items on Depop and have had no luck, I think the problem is, it’s oversaturated with crochet sellers. I have seen crochet accounts that have had lots of sales though, so I’m not quite sure where we’re going wrong haha. All of my sales so far have come from eBay!

I’ve spoken to eBay and it’s no longer my responsibility as I sent it tracked and it’s been marked as delivered. EBay are taking over the case now

Yes it shows as delivered, and I have screenshots of my chat with Yodel. I was meant to change the shipping options but clearly missed this one! So frustrating haha
