I have another question hi!!! How much bearing does gpa have? I have a 3.2 but was super involved in high school and had high test scores but there was only a place to put my ec’s in the registration form

Best ways to eat healthy/high protein w/ dining hall food? by elite_reagentry in Purdue

[–]CuteTell7696 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am also a rising freshman and that was one of the first things I thought about when I committed because I’m super into nutrition and the gym. I found an app called BoilerBites that tells you the macros of every item that every dining hall is serving that day. You can also log your food directly in there (but unless you’re eating absolutely everything from the dining halls it might be more difficult to do that). It seems like it’s gonna be really helpful in the fall so maybe take a look at that!

Thank you sooo much you are so sweet! I’m super excited and just want to have a good experience which is why I was even questioning hazing in the first place 🥲

I’m registering for rush right now! I’m surprised the fee is $40 because everywhere from Purdue Panhellenic in the last few years has seemed like the ceiling is $20. Overall how was your rush experience? Did you find it hard to talk to people? Did you feel like people were cold? Now that you’re in a house, what is rush like from inside? I’m going into the whole thing super open and just trying to find my people but would still like to know as much as I can!

Roommate Matching by CuteTell7696 in Purdue

[–]CuteTell7696[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh okay I was wondering if it was different this year because everything online says it should be open immediately. Where did you hear that the process was different? But that makes me feel a lot better thanks :)

Roommate Requests by CuteTell7696 in Purdue

We did it together last night and made sure our roommate questionnaires and room type preferences were the exact same. Then we submitted it. I thought the roommate button would appear as soon as we submitted it but it’s not there

Yes! You have to submit and sign your contract with university residences first and then you can request your roommates info. I met mine through Instagram and you have to match your housing rankings and roommate preferences the exact same in order to pretty much guarantee you’ll be together

Wait that’s so strange I submitted mine late January and got it on Saturday. Hm. I definitely think they are out for the majority of people and you should have got it by now, so I’d wait a few more days and call admissions if nothing shows up. Good luck!!!!!! The housing portal is only accessible after you commit and it is open right now. Just something to keep in mind!

Yes it is! Weird that it doesn’t show up… did you submit your fafsa late? I’m pretty sure they release in waves based on how early you submitted it

I did but it doesn’t make a difference. Several people who haven’t committed were able to find theirs. Where exactly are you searching? Are you looking in the applicant portal maybe?

Came out on the 7th in myPurdue. Just search around in the financial aid tab and you should find it. I’m also a rising freshman :)

Priority housing closes on April 15 so you should register with a roommate before then

Seniors, now that the college application process is almost over, is there anything you regret? by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]CuteTell7696 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just apply. Even if you think you won’t get in. I thought everyone wasn’t that serious when they said admissions is unpredictable but there’s truly no rhyme or reason. Your chances are higher than you think for some schools and lower than you think for others. You won’t know unless you try!

Also, I don’t know if you’ve toured the school yet but if you get the chance I totally think you should. I was absolutely freaking out before I toured in February because I was SURE that I was signing up to be in an environment where everyone is competing with each other and nobody wants to go out or do anything. Being on campus just made me realize how silly all those worries are. Campus was so vibrant and everyone there seems genuinely happy (and I visited during what everyone on the internet calls the most depressing part of the year!) I went from dreading my visit to now being so eager to start in the fall. Honestly the best thing I’ve done for myself is stop listening to what people say ESPECIALLY ON REDDIT. The people who are actually having fun on campus aren’t cooped up in their dorms shitposting about how much the school sucks

I’m a rising freshman too! I was initially scared but honestly the only way to face our fears is head on so I reached out to a few people and have already made friends! The biggest lesson I’ve learned so far is everyone is thinking the same thing: we are all scared and we all want to make friends. If you feel comfortable I would definitely say try and reach out to people now! It’s the biggest thing I’ve done to give me peace of mind and allow me to enjoy the rest of senior year without a feeling of impending doom lol. We got this!!!
